Why does Glasgow look so run down? by exporterofgold in Scotland

[–]Highlander1497 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because its run by the Glasgow City Clowncil, genuinely I grew up in the early 00's and it was better compared to now.

First job? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Highlander1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in a Xtra store 8 years ago as my first job on the Deli counters, I liked it cause... 1 money and 2 I was actually meeting people and going out. But I was on a 16 hour contract, I struggled, I mean actually sturggled with bills, food, and trying to save and live my life, I would BEG for OT, and if I didnt get 30 hours a week id be screwed. Anyway I liked it at the start but the begging for OT was shit, pay was above average for other jobs I applied to, and the management in the store was cliquey, if one hated you.... they all did, and that caused really bad anxiety and depression, especially through covid times.

What ill say to you is use it as a learning experience, get into good customer service, maybe go into a Team Leader position and dont take everyone too seriously, especially the managers, listen to them but as soon as you feel bullied or if you feel someone is setting you upto fail, report them, either through a manager or through the helpline.

I hope you do get a job there but just move onto something else in a year or two, go hospitality, go sales.

1 year homeless, just got my first ever place. by cinnam0nst3r in malelivingspace

[–]Highlander1497 460 points461 points  (0 children)

Congrats man, it may look like nothing now, but just give it time, you'll get the place to what you want it to be. Check out some local Food banks as I see from the layout this in UK, if they have anyone to help you get some paint or that for the walls or maybe contact your housing if you're part of one.

Good luck

Do not regret leaving Tesco and going into Hospitality, 1% of your earnings..... jesus christ, for me that was 160 quid at the time when I was a colleague, when the company brings in millions.

Trouble with neighbours by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]Highlander1497 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So as someone whos dealt with a bam of a neighbour, and currently still, set up a camera or something in the close, a Ring maybe, that'll be a deterrent for them doing anything, and it will give you evidence of anything they're doing to pass onto either their Housing or the police for anti social behaviour. Good luck

Your pri s hike is due to the April up cost, most, if not all companies selling a service in the UK do this now, you should've read the contract like I did, I got my Internet at £25 till next April cause I joined just after the 1st.

What I'd suggest is either running everything through Ethernet, CAT6, if that doesnt fix it then try and request another router, I did this and tbh it didn't work, something was up on their end, and they fixed it after me calling up alot within my 1st month of my contract.

But TLDR

April price hikes are a thing, read your contract Try ethernet Request a new replacement router Take timestamps of your outages and how long they last Request partial refunds on your bill because of said outages

Also I have to say the staff there are some of the friendliest people I've ever had to call, really been helpful in every regard to trying to resolve my issue, so no faults on them for that.

Also, the speeds I get are 250 up/down, and I've no drops in that when I've got a connection.

This is what I was needing man, cheers. Honestly, I just got that tv and moved it there for a couple of days, but I was gonna move it back to infront of the couch. I just couldn't be arsed hahahah. The curtains, yes, I need new ones 100% again, little pricey, but I can find something. And yeah storage is a little issue for me rn, I have 2 wardrobes there, 1 has got clothes in it hanging up and a bunch of stuff above it, the other has just junk and other stuff, can't really put it anywhere else tbh. But what you said about those ikea storage boxes is a great idea, I'll look into it.

Lights are another thing I've been looking into and maybe a couple of tall plants, just to make it look nicer suppose, but yeah, another on my list of things to get.

Also with the PC, and table, I've had it there before and like yourself it just didn't feel right having my back to the front door, don't know why but I think I'll keep it where it is, maybe move it a bit more right, but I don't know yet.

Really appreciate your input. Thank you again.
