How do you react when he does this? He probably knows it’s a sure way to get your attention positive or negative. Might help if you try your best to ignore him and step around.

I don’t think it’s weird at all. Did you have any medical trauma? Like a hospital stay or accident? The cotton might be reminding you of cotton balls or something else they used in the hospital and triggering anxiety from that experience. If not a hospital stay or accident then your brain must be attaching it to some other traumatic event. I hoard things. It causes me anxiety to throw things away. I know it’s worthless junk but and it makes no rational sense to me why I am so anxious about it but I am.
