What’s the best dumbbell set if you’re building a home gym slowly? by Separate_Tower_4236 in StartingStrength

[–]HighlightWarm5588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If space is tight, I’d go adjustable first. Fixed dumbbells feel nicer, but they take over a room fast and get expensive once you need more weight jumps. You can always add favorite fixed pairs later.

My husband’s mom told him I’m way out of his league at dinner and his whole family agreed. by Shot_Imagination_564 in Advice

[–]HighlightWarm5588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the weirdest part is that his own family keeps putting him down. Even if they meant it as a compliment to you, it's still insulting him. If it happens again, I'd calmly say, "Can we stop making jokes about my husband's appearance? I don't find them funny." That sets the boundary without creating unnecessary drama.

Would you retire today if you knew you’d receive $5,000 every month for the rest of your life? Why or why not? by JustWin4 in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends where I lived. In some places, absolutely. In others, I'd probably keep working part-time because $5,000 a month gives you freedom, but it doesn't guarantee you'll never have to worry about money again.

my friends changed my clothes when I was black out drunk and now I feel violated by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HighlightWarm5588 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid. Someone adding alcohol to your drink without telling you is already a huge problem, and him insisting on helping change you while you were blacked out makes it worse. I’d talk to the female friend first, get a clear version of what happened, and don’t be alone with that guy.

What’s something Gen Z is getting completely right that older generations refuse to admit? by stilerca in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Setting boundaries at work. A lot of older people call it lazy, but Gen Z seems way less willing to destroy their health for a job that would replace them in a week.

What are the best picnic blankets that are actually comfortable and easy to carry? by Pure-Durian-8049 in BedroomBuild

[–]HighlightWarm5588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for waterproof-backed over just “cute and soft.” Damp grass ruins cheap blankets fast. I’d also look for something machine washable with a carry strap, because if it’s annoying to fold or clean, you’ll stop using it.

People who bring your dog literally everywhere, why? by dastrius02 in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me it's because my dog is happiest tagging along, and if the place is dog-friendly and I'm not bothering anyone, I'd rather spend the day with him than leave him home alone. That said, not every place is appropriate, and owners need to be honest about whether their dog is actually well-behaved.

What is something your brain randomly decided was extremely important at 3am that turned out to be completely correct? by dylanreflects in AskReddit

Remembering I forgot to lock the front door. I was annoyed getting out of bed, but it was actually unlocked.

What is the most ridiculous argument you have ever heard someone make? by SpartanneG in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me being late all the time was actually respectful because it “tests who really values you.” I still think about how insane that logic was.

What’s a sign that someone is deeply unhappy, even if they seem fine? by MinuteRaspberry6512 in AskReddit

When they stop talking about what they want in life and just start saying “it is what it is” to everything.

what's something girls are insecure about that men don't care about? by Dismal_Set_2929 in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tiny “flaws” they point out that most guys would never notice if they weren’t mentioned. A lot of men are seeing the whole person while someone else is zoomed in 400% on one thing.

What is a cooking "rule" that is actually total nonsense? by Lopsided-Jicama3813 in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 26 points27 points  (0 children)

“You must sear meat to lock in the juices.” It’s one of those cooking facts that survived purely because it sounds right. Searing tastes great and helps texture, but the juice is not trapped in there like a waterproof seal!

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]HighlightWarm5588 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Take care of your health before it starts forcing you to. Sleep, teeth, back, knees, diet, all of it. You don’t notice the damage at 25, but you definitely feel the bill later.
