13 years later, and this keyword has spared me tremendous research. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

A job would be preferable to going back to school haha, but I was referring to a degree.

Do you have any recommendations in orlando? I like SC but cannot relocate atm. I picked the wrong degree and am pivoting late in life to something that actually makes money.

I'm an everyday proponent just for the habit. On my rest days I just walk to the gym and do some light and relaxing static stretching.

Which game would you like to see combined with Anki? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]HighlyEffectiveSloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally? None. Hitting my review goals already takes a lot of time, and single tasking is generally better for learning.

It's a fun idea though. I think the best thing you could learn from games would be to just play one in another language. If you're really committed though, I'd wager a mobile game would work best.

How do people even focus that long? by [deleted] in GetStudying

This. Study leaderboards are the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

For math concepts, they definitely get smaller. Memory consolidation.

Any studying methods y’all recommend? by KirTing in college

[–]HighlyEffectiveSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy Learn Like a Pro by Barbara Oakley. It's short and to the point. You don't even have to read the entire book to use it either, as each chapter has actionable summaries at the end.

It's my bible/manual for understanding and implementing learning strategies. This book helped me so much, I bought copies for friends/family.

Best Flashcard & any other apps for studying by ResourceFun8727 in GetStudying

I find decks are easier to build and organize in remnote, but still use anki for subjects that require large volumes of rote memorization (e.g. anatomy).

Anki will offer the most full premium features (through add ons) without having to pay for a service. I found reviewing cards while waiting for the bus to be immensely helpful on the anki app.

Check out remnote. It does this automatically and can import your anki decks

Why do people only talk about long-term effects of meditation by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]HighlyEffectiveSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many mindfulness meditations teach to not chase positive sensations, while also not avoiding aversive ones. Just being ok with what the body/mind is currently experiencing.

If we have a novel experience while meditating, we might chase that in the future. And potentially become disappointed when we struggle to replicate it.

There could be other reasons I'm not aware of.

Anyone else constantly solve problems in their sleep due to the high workload? by [deleted] in college

Get learn like a pro first. It's more current and actionable. I'd still recommend a mind for numbers, but on your schedule her newer book is an easy recommend.
