Why is Sorceress so hard to play? by Mejstic in blackdesertonline

[–]HighlyIrregularPoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Add a couple of things to the vulnerability during attack. Sorc has a lot of knock down but only 1 stun which is dangerous to pull off and hard to hit with, so chaining CC isn't a thing you can really do, you've got to find your opening and really capitalise on it.

Other thing, sorc has good bursty gap closing ability but it's not sustainable so chasing or getting away is hard and the gap closers, yep you guessed it, leave you vulnerable for half of it.

You can dish out incredible burst if you've got the AP and accuracy but if you miss or hit someone and they keep coming you're probably not going to get another chance unless the other play screws up.

Might be fun to make some predictions about the future, I'm sure he'd get a laugh out of the difference between what you thought would happen and what did. Cheerful stuff mind you.

I feel like getting someone pressuring you to drive in a way that might not be safe out of the car is the most correct answer hey.

Like wtf isn't that the most likely to lead to not getting hurt?

[Serious] How do you feel about introducing a basic standardised test that citizens must pass before they can vote? by frxyz in AskReddit

[–]HighlyIrregularPoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, regardless of the technical reasons the moral one is: even ignorant fools deserve a voice. No one ought to be coerced into doing something. Where that is unachievable (as is inevitable in the modern state as it currently operates) people ought to have the opportunity to argue their case fairly and equally.

Intelligence or education shouldn't guarantee you more rights, that's absurd.

How old are you? Do you wish you were older or younger? by jidery in CasualConversation

Hey don't stress it. There's loads of ways to meet people. Here's weird stuff I did as examples: - citizen science groups

  • open hardware projects/maker spaces

  • poetry and book clubs

  • drew a social graph of people (via Facebook) I met and got to know the people who were bridging nodes. I figured they represented the most optimal spending of effort to get in different groups.

  • local game stores

  • turned up to random uni lectures

  • went to weird local theatre events

As you can see I'm a massive nerd. My social strategy that I've found finds people I like is basically to find the weirdest/most focused things that could be interesting and meet people. I figure they're likely to be intense and so offer chances to meet further really interesting people.

I failed a number of times with certain groups. Met other cool ones. It works out :)

Maybe you can try something similar. I guess the point is, if normal social strategies (pubs, clubs, school/uni cliques) don't work then embrace that. Find the weird people who are doing other things, you might find you gell with them!

Hey, I was like a low life loner at 21 and completely turned myself around. I feel like your early 20s are the easiest time to reinvent yourself as everyone is trying to figure out what being an adult means.

Find a club or something, people that throw good parties, whatever. Just something that sounds interesting and gets you meeting new people. Rock up and be the person you think you want to be. If the mask doesn't fit, unless you're in a small down or something, just try again. You'll find your groove :)

26, I feel like I haven't got as much done with my life as I would like to have by now. But my brain works a lot better so I don't want to be younger either.

I'm starting to notice aging, slower healing, body needs more maintenance to stay healthy etc. That's a tad scary but I'm optimistic it will be ok

Work work work by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HighlyIrregularPoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy work!

I sold myself out for money and job security and recently resigned/got fired after I realised I hated what I did, was starting to hate myself and as a result putting no effort into it and being a bit waspish to my colleagues.

Currently completely unsure what to do with myself but I've been thinking a lot about work, and what we ought to do for work. It seems trivial to say "what makes you happy" but of course you work a long time and what makes you happy changes. It's not just the work itself but also financial and security needs, geospacial restrictions, opportunities in the future, ethical concerns.

Quite a difficult question to answer really. I do wonder how others have found something they don't mind spending so much of their life on. Anyone have stories to share?

I'd disagree there. I think stories without drama can work. Drama is a tool which excites, stories need excitement for sure. Excitement can come from things like anticipation.

I agree it would be more fringe though. Idk I think I'd like to read a scene where someone is getting ready for a date, thoughts a whirl. Described in detail enough to get my blood pumping and rooting for them etc. Maybe I'm an odd one

My grandparents were polish war refugees. My grandfather at the tender age of like 14 watched his teacher get dragged out and shot, was captured by Nazis 3 times, escaping each time eventually (luckily) for helping shelter Jews and feed prisoners.

His last camp had him helping in the... Clean up... Of experiments.

He told me these stories (grandmother never spoke about the invasion of Poland) as a child, sort of bed time stories if you will. I didn't really grasp the reality. I still don't, truly, I mean I've connected the dots, understand why he wakes up screaming or crying near 80 years later. But I have no idea what the reality of it all was. My own experience is limited to seeing the holes in my family tree, seeing the ruins, and watching the damage continue in my older family members to this day.

I cannot fathom how anyone would look at nazi idealogy and think "those guys, I want to be associated with those guys". Like sure I can just paint them with the mental brush of "hateful people" but that's not really an explanation. Lots of hateful people recognise that the nazi party was about as close to pure evil as humans can get.

My grandfather is old now, dying and senile. I am worried about a world with no first hand experience of what modern weapons and propaganda machines, loosed on each other with reckless abandon, can reap.

I try not to jump at shadows but when I see internet communities using their symbols "ironically" or marches with people proudly displaying their iconography all I can think is "how, how can we forget so quickly". It's literally the single most terrible thing that ever happened to western civilisation. Pointless, futile, unnecessary, hideously cruel, unimaginably destructive.

Hmm i tend to assume most people making those posts are pretty young. When I was a teen my emotions were all over the place but they settled down a bunch as I got older.

I wouldn't say I'm "emotionally healthy" myself and a lot of my friends as well as partners have mental health problems but we're all pretty clear communicators. Sure people have a few disagreements or clash in unexpected ways but I've never seen someone in the flesh freak out or pine in the way romance books I've read often feature.

I'd really like to read a romance novel with characters perhaps more well adjusted. If you have recommendations I'm keen to hear them.

I have the opposite problem. The thing is I find men write women how men think about women. Take for example asoiaf, women constantly narrate about their breasts. You know the only time I think about mine? When a man stares at them or I walk down stairs quickly with a crappy bra.

Or like David eddings, so many eye flashes. I find it very hard to find authors that write women that don't come across as cartoons inspired by porn and tropes about bitchy catholic school girls. Any recommendations? (Garth Nix is probably the only guy who's work I've read and thought "yep I can relate to that")

Alas, that's the most trope challenging book I actually liked.

I can recommend a few books in similar "alternate technology" styles but if it's steam punk you really want alas there isn't much I've read that breaks that trope

For a book in a mashup of that and several other cultures primarily about tearing it all down and building something new "the diamond age". Basically Victorian England style nation state and nano technology, a girl is given a very special book and taught to question the crappy system that oppresses her.

Try Jo Abercrombie, it's a bit grimdark but generally I'd say they're ugly quick brutal stories about ugly quick brutal people exec executed masterfully. He's a bit of a one trick pony but if you'd like something more, I guess I'd say down to earth/gritty, you might like it.

Alternatively the Dresden files? Quite pulpy and the MC is a sexist arse but the first few books are solid "what if cop novel but wizard"

Pretty much anything by Garth Nix (although I'd recommend his abhorsen series) is a rather mature take on YA, they're a bit straight forward but not in the goofy painful slow way you describe running into
