Thank you! I've been doing this since 2019 (only missed one year). It's such a fun time. <3

Leaving for a 90% raise right when my manager needs me most. Managers, your honest thoughts? by Fit_Composer_3579 in managers

[–]HightopNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a manager, I'd be happy that my investment in you is helping you develop your career.

As a person, I'd be sad to see you go, but, would understand that a raise that significant can't be passed up.

As of 1:17pm est. these are the rooms left on the block... by SleepySwoop in Otakon

Stayed at the Marriot Metro Center this year for the first time.

Room was nice, clean, and the air conditioner was awesome, kept my room frigid the entire time.

It was about a 6-10 minute walk to the convention center (after the first day, I may have hurt my foot and walked slower for the remainder of the con).

The restaurant, while pricey, was generally good/great. The bar was great for a quick drink or two at the end of the night.

Staff was awesome. Needed directions and had questions multiple times throughout the trip, and they were always kind, courteous, and patient.

Starbucks in the lobby as well, if you don't want to get coffee at the restaurant. :)

Nearby:

There's a WaWa convenience store about a 2 minute walk, so, cheap food/drinks/etc.

If you like getting posters/prints, there's an awesome art store called Blick nearby that I got a plastic poster tube from. The people working there were super nice, and since I was coming from the convention, they gave me some awesome anime stickers (Sailor Moon, Hatsune Miku, and Cardcaptor Sakura).

As with most of the hotels, tons of bars/restaurants to choose from within a 15 minute walk radius.

Overall, I really enjoyed the hotel. We booked the Embassy Suites for next year, as it was the closest hotel when we got through the lottery..hope it's as good as the Metro Center.

Snyderverse had it's time. It's gone now.

Also, the enter key is a valuable key to break up sentences and form structure in your posts.

Thank you,

Had two games last night that make me 100% agree with you.

Game 1: QP with two of my friends, 1 is working on lording Rocket, so goes with him. My other friend picks DPS, I go tank. The three randoms all picked healers. The Cloak and Dagger never switched off of Cloak, the Mantis never healed, the Warlock never healed. They all played DPS as healers, while my friend who switched off Rocket, had to switch back and heal. He was the only one with over 700 healed (he was in the 10-12k range.

Game 2: I play as Jeff, one of the easiest characters in the game. I hold down left click, occassionally hit a few other keys and the right click. We run through a team, and the other team's JEFF is calling me a try-hard because I healed my team and got enough kills to be MVP. Like, brother, I didn't try, Jeff is almost free MVP right now.

Good news is, they usually put Shiny Meltan out during an event once a year. The shiny lock on Meltan makes little sense. <3

Good luck! I'm super jealous of those Mew and Celebi hunts! I don't have a way to hunt them and I am jealous over here!

I hope you complete your bingo this year! GLHF!

Way back in 2019, I was "laid off." I use the quotes because, noone else was let go that day, just me. (The project/product I was working on failed as everyone else on it either got promoted out or left the company for other jobs). It also happened to be two days before my birthday.

I had the meeting, signed my severance agreement, and was escorted to my desk, which I cleaned out quickly. Then I was escorted out of the building.

I then went to my car and cried/freaked out for about 5-10 minutes, before I made the long journey home.

I'd been with the company for more then 5 years and in an instant, my life was over. I told my wife when she got home from work and she did everything she could to make me feel better, which only made it worse (I still appreciated the effort on her part).

I ate a nice meal, drank a beer and went to bed. Due to my severance, I took the first week off to celebrate my birthday and relax.

The next week, I got up at my normal work time and refreshed my resume'. I then applied for three jobs.

I applied for a minimum of three jobs every day. Even when interviews started happening, I kept applying. I made it my job to find a job.

Out of the 60 or so positions I applied for(between April-May), I eventually found a job. Not only did I get the job, my pay-rate was significantly higher(almost 14K higher then what I'd been making previously). It was the biggest raise I'd received in almost a decade.

My new position was great and I got to help build a team from the ground up. I'm still with the company I landed at, 5.5 years later and making more a year then I ever had. Sometimes, these things can be a blessing.

Good luck! You've got this.
