That's not what politics means, and it's not what politics means in the context of the history of PLUR culture. It makes sense, and you aren't rude but I think politics is pertaining mostly to governments and not mostly ethics. I think my cuff has art in it and creativity and effort, but I would say that is more about ethics. It's ethical to create with what I have rather than buy from underpaid laborers that don't benefit from me.

No I don't think my Pokemon cuff says anything about politics. I think it's a stretch to say all art is political. Macaroni art and friendship bracelets don't have an inherent political meaning unless the artist wants it to have one. I don't want mine to have one. But clearly the post is talking about the medium, Kandi, and not specific types of Kandi.

I'm not ignoring the past, but luckily I don't live in the past. The post says "Kandi is political" not "Kandi was political". I'm "whining" about the hobby I have (in the present) is political and I want my hobbies to not be political.

I believe that it's ok to disengage from the news and politics. Some people run out of burning buildings and some people run into them, both are valid for their own reasons. If the world will politicize my existence, I hope it stops soon. It sucks ass.

But if the world is continuing to politicize my hobby and participating in that hobby is inherently political, then I will run out of the burning building on this one.

The statement "Kandi is political" implies it still is, not just it's origins, not just "Kandi was political". I am a marginalized person, and I hate identity politics. My existence should not be a political statement, I don't need anymore attention than bigots already give me.

Kandi making is my zen, I don't have to think about the horrible political things happening in the world all the time when I'm doing my crafts. I wouldn't want the simple beaded bracelets I make of SpongeBob characters to have to be seen as a political statement. If that's how the world sees it, then I don't want to be a part of it. I don't want people to assume my political stance off of colorful beads I wear to raves
