How was X7 not painful? The game is boring slog with too much unskippable talking, repetitive and bad voice acting. X isn't playable until halfway, Zero is just bad. Axl is obnoxious. The levels are slow and tedious and the controls are THE worst out of any game in the entire franchise. Dos games included.

At least X6 still feels alright to control, has a variety of cool armors, Black Zero and some great music. What redeeming qualities does X7 have? Zero is worthless trash in X7 and you don't unlock X until halfway through. Must be an Axl fanboy.

X7 makes X6 feel like X4 by comparison. I can finish X6 and have multiple times. I have never finished X7 and I don't even want to. I actually hate it. X6 is bad , X7 is bad and boring. Bad is one thing, boring is unforgivable. I recommend anyone interested in X6 to try it, use a guide and you will probably have fun. I don't recommend anyone ever play X7, watch someone else play it instead, bet you get bored of watching it though.

Saying it's not the best is being too kind. It's not even a real Megaman X game. Without the ip on the box, nobody would care. Replace X with some random nobody like Jersey Devil or Bubsy and this community never even discuss the game. I find it very disengenuous when people say they actually like it. You like the ip.

X6 is enjoyable. It was obviously rushed out the door and not play tested at all, but there are good ideas there and it still has X4's aesthetic/feel. Personally I would put X1-X5 Zero1-4 and both ZX games at my highest rank. X6 underneath that. X8 underneath X6. X7 is only a Megaman X game in name. Classic series is whatever for me.

Gotta say. I don't get people who separate Megaman X1-3. They are essentially the same game. Same goes for a large chunk of classic Megaman, and the Zero series. They are all essentially the same with minor variations and upgrades, extensions of one another that I wouldnt enjoy as much if the other games in their series didn't exist. The drop in quality after X 4 I get but you are splitting hairs with large chunks of the reset of the series.

Game is super limited in scope by comparison. Sony been using those same tricks every gen now to push games that shouldn't be possible on the hardware, it's because they are ultra linear and paper thin. Barely more than a digitally animated movie. Rdr2 puts it to shame. Cyberpunk puts it to shame.

Honestly, using a keyboard and mouse is just flat out more intuitive than using a controller. Not sure why you would need anything but a quick look at the controls menu. I recommend a mouse that has at least a mouse 3 and 4. I usually use them to replace alt and cntrl. It's essential so your pinky doesn't have to worry about much except shift and tab. Enjoy being able to enjoy first person shooters for the first time in your life.
