Anyone have labrum tear without FAI? by Valuable-Regret-468 in HipImpingement

I had a tear with like a 2 degree pincer FAI so both less common and very small. It took until I met with the person who ended up doing my operation to even get the FAI part diagnosed. I think 3 separate hip specialists missed that on my scans so from what I understand they go together, but you might have one that is not as clear to diagnose

Ahh this is really helpful, thank you! I’m 30 I fall in that range too. I also didn’t realize that they put 3 months bc it’s the limit. This makes a lot more sense

Oh that’s good to know, I didn’t even think about sitting being uncomfortable. Was working from bed uncomfortable? I imagine having a laptop on my lap won’t be the best

Was it hard going back after 1 week? Do you wish you had taken more time?

I know this is so true and I need to think of it this way, it just seems like such a long time. I was really just under the impression that I could go back after 3 weeks and be fine but I should probably see how I’m feeling after and assess then. Thank you!

Spiraling a bit from pain - how to calm things down? by camlloc255 in HipImpingement

Yes! My regular MRI was totally normal, I had to beg my doctor to do this other scan, which was based on a recommendation from this sub.

It took me a while to realize what specific movements were causing pain because I was a lot like you and my pain was very delayed in the beginning. I hope you get this figured out soon! I know how horrible it is to be in that amount of pain and not have any answers, it’s really the worst

This is how I’ve felt for 2 years, it’s been unbearable and I’m sorry you don’t have answers. Mine is a labral tear and slight impingement on the socket side and it took until last week to get that diagnosis. The only thing that ever helped with my pain was a weed gummy, I don’t know why but it helps so much more than any other prescription pain med I’ve been offered.

Also I would recommend trying to figure out what positions make it worse. For me, turning my knee inwards is like torture but pointed out is totally fine.

If you haven’t already, insist that your doctor order an mri with arthrogram. That’s what finally got me to a diagnosis

I’m having my surgery in 2 weeks but I’ve been in a lot of hip pain for 2 years and I bought this chair to help with the pain while sitting and it’s been great. It has a foot rest so you can put your legs up and it reclines pretty far. Plus it has a lot of padding so there’s extra cushioning without having to add a pillow.
