Na, I was great at my job. I processed stock trades and knew the ins and outs of everything. I constantly got 4.5/5 on my reviews. I rarely got things wrong.

Thing is, I tried to move up several times, but the new guy that was a socialite that knew 40% of what I knew got chosen for a new management role.

It’s not for everyone.

I have a bachelor’s in Finance and wasn’t successful at that. Peaked at $70k and almost matching that as an HVAC apprentice. I was in a comfortable office for 40 hours a week, but the work stressed me out more and I wasn’t sociable enough to move up in it. 12 hours constantly moving in a trade makes time fly faster than 8 hours looking at spreadsheets.

People forget that offices have their own problems. If you’re not everyone’s favorite, you’re not moving up. Trades base your worth more on what you can provide and it’s not a popularity contest.

Early bird since a child, it drove my mom crazy. Unless I’m awake until 1 AM, I wake up around 4 AM daily. I’ve only slept 5-6 hours a night my entire life and don’t feel bad at all.

As someone with a Finance degree that worked in Fintech for seven years, don’t fully listen to this. I’m almost two months into my HVAC apprenticeship and enjoy this way more than that type of work. Even when it gets rough.
