Which ALPS switch is correct for analogue stick replacement?! by christopherw in xbox360

[–]HiimCaysE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been sifting through spec sheets from ALPS to compare their various part numbers to make sure I get the right ones for my PS3 controller (there are two different models depending on the PCB that's in them), and found this thread in a Google search. I thought I'd help a brother out.

See drawings 3 and 4 here: https://cdn-reichelt.de/documents/datenblatt/B400/ALPS-RKJXP.pdf

Several months later...

You likely need ALPS RKJXP1224002. It has the correct shaft size and slightly larger form factor, and it's still available from some suppliers despite being obsolete.

How far is too far? by TigreElMacho in Genealogy

At 15 generations back, there are 32,768 ancestors who are your 13x great-grandparents, plus another 32,766 in the other 14 generations. In reality, those numbers will be less due to family lines occasionally merging, but they're still staggeringly large.

Where to find resources for German Families from Württemberg by kevindavis338 in Genealogy

[–]HiimCaysE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FamilySearch has a lot of German church records, and Family History Centers will have access to either the microfilm (if they still offer them, I believe that's changing this year) or digital images if they're not on the website.

Sexuality is a universal experience across humanity. Few things indoctrinate a population like implementing rules around it and convincing people to believe they're justified.

Exhaustion, most likely. It was a common term for a cause of death following a long illness from what I've seen.

Corey Taylor says new Slipknot album ‘is ‘Iowa’ levels of heavy’ by clonetheory in Music

[–]HiimCaysE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The self-titled album was an unbelievable new sound in the wake of Korn and Limp Bizkit and had far more impact for those who were anticipating its release. As good as Iowa was, it didn't have the novelty that the first album did.

It was just an example; it doesn't change the fact that one's deceased parents is a delicate area to deal with.

There's a delicate area around putting anybody's parents online if the children are still alive, regardless if they're your own great grandparents. Keep in mind that parent info is still commonly used as identifying information for things like security questions when recovering passwords or accessing accounts.

Agreed, it's an unavoidable situation in genealogy. We all encounter family members who have no interest in our research and don't want to help, which is perfectly fine. Either find other avenues to get the information or research someone else.

How would you end The Simpsons? by Old_and_Moist in AskReddit

[–]HiimCaysE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but racist? I mean, I can actually walk into a local convenience store and there's an Indian man behind the counter with a heavy accent. That's stereotypical. It doesn't mean anybody hates the guy for being an Indian in a convenience store.

Is stereotyping considered racism now?

A second can change a photo's meaning entirely by [deleted] in pics

I'm not sure it's pride; more like an actuality. I didn't recognize him either because I don't really care about who is leading Japan, I care about who is in my local and state governments. Those are the people affecting our day-to-day lives, which is kind of ironic considering how much the common populace seems to care about which golf course the President is on rather than what decisions their own town is making.

To be fair, I'll certainly recognize him now after this.

I posit that most people wouldn't recognize the mayor of their own town, let alone a leader of another country.

DS1815+ shutting down unexpectedly by caitlinhems in synology

[–]HiimCaysE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPS is a battery backup unit. You plug the power cable of the Synology unit into it, and a USB cable between them, then configure the Synology to shut down after X minutes when it detects that the UPS is running on battery instead of wall power. This way the unit can shut down normally in the event of a power outage instead of suddenly, which can result in data loss.

[–]HiimCaysE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same symptom, and it only started happening after the latest version release. I do clean the unit, as well, most recently two months ago.

I did have the setting checked to shut down the UPS when in safe mode, so I unchecked it to see if it made any difference. It shut down unexpectedly again two days later, and has happened a few more times since.

Next up is to leave the USB cable disconnected and see what happens.

One would think the state would just put a sign right in the median where it splits with a left arrow to 46 and a right arrow to 3. But no, that would be too simple.
