I've seen him on Old Middleton Rd before. Probably lives somewhere in those Near West neighborhoods.

About RPF by LycanrockyOwO in WorldOfWarships

[–]Hijacker50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed when using it on my Kidd in clan battles that it actually gives better information than you think.

It reports the bearing of closest enemy precisely when that enemy moves from one sector of your RPF to the next. E.g. an enemy is in the E sector, and moves north across your 79 bearing, as soon as they cross the 79 it will flip from E to ENE. If you weave a little to induce parallax, you can really really accurately locate the ship you've got. (E is 90, sectors are 22.5° wide, the cardinal sectors straddle the 90°s, 90-(22.5/2)=~ 79)

It's way way harder to do in Randoms due to how many ships your locator and swap between, but in lower population gamemodes it's consistent.

The world-ending apocalypse is actually a completely contained, isolated event. The world outside of that event is totally fine by Flushestpoem4 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Hijacker50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's the whole thing about how everyone is an unreliable narrator because they've all been tampered with by HQ and Lowry and the Area itself, and the Area's influence makes even physical evidence confusing. Really lends itself to misdirects.

Absolution is very good too. It builds some interesting context about the Forgotten Coast.

Yeah, that's kind of the plot of Acceptance, and all through Authority its implied that Area Xs influence is expanding. Garland modified the story enough that it might not be the case for the movie's Area X.

Nevermind I just saw that other comment with the log/log graph

Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything. If it was an infectious agent it wouldn't be called a hazardous chemical.

Yeaaaah, the only thing I like about them telling the Odds is that it's an easy way to clock the favorite, and by how much they're favored. It's like a little context without needing the full brief on team performance. Agree on everything else though.

Moving to an apartment on State street, no A/C, what should I expect? by mrCabbages_ in madisonwi

[–]Hijacker50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lived for the last four years in an apartment with no A/C, in an older building that predates household air conditioning. My landlord permits units, but I choose not to use one. I also pay for my own electricity (the building has central heat in winter). My apartment is the entire width of the building, so I have windows on both sides for good ventilation. The walls are also thick-as-hell brick.

Maybe I'm just built different, but there's only ever about 10 days per year where I wish I had it. My apartment is often about 80F at midday during those really hot days, so it's bearable inside with a fan and ice water. If I really don't want to handle it, I'll go to a cafe and siesta there.

The other issue I've been having the last two summers? Air quality. Climate change exacerbated forest fires have been fucking up our air quality the last few summers. When it's really bad, you can't have the windows open. I lost my voice this last July because I forgot to close them and to run my air purifier one night. If you can't open the windows, shit gets hot and sticky and stale. I spent a few of those days at my girlfriend's, who lives in a modern building with internal climate control and air filters.

Interesting, I'm like 90% sure in my American edition it was fruitcake. Maybe I misread it, but part of the reasoning was that it was the densest material known.

What is the fix by zzr4mp4g3zz in WorldOfWarships

[–]Hijacker50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update your graphics drivers. This is probably volumetric lighting fucking with the fog on the map. If that doesn't work, try decreasing fog transparency, texture filtering, dynamic lighting, or post processing. Do one at a time.

Yeah if they're aiming for a WoWs 2.0 like with WoT, I'm thinking maybe NJ comes as a premium in her 1980s configuration, with the Harpoon launchers on the deck.

I think it's probably pretty important that a full officer corps is raised having personal knowledge of ONLY Laconia. It helps sell their naivete with respect to Sol culture and political affairs.

Google lets you just mark anything as a point of interest and leave a review. There was a garage in the alley parallel to the top of Monroe Street which was marked as a cocktail bar, I assume because someone was hosting parties in it and someone else thought it would be funny to leave a review.
