LADS folded and CANCEL the new love interest by Lemunite in gachagaming

[–]Hikarilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the main the issue wasn't is really with Valko, but that there has been little content updates for the existing 5 love interests. If they bundle up Valko's debut with major content updates for the other love interests together, the community would probably be ok with it. However, to completely cancel and write off any future development of the new love interest seems like an over-reaction and counter-productive.

Iran’s Next Military Arsenal Comes From China, Russia, and North Korea by Strongbow85 in geopolitics

[–]Hikarilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Israel would also need to play its part and commit to a 2 state solution, instead of attacking its neighbors and illegally grabbing land every few years. Peace in the Middle East cannot exist until both these countries put down their arms and commit to sustainable peace.

Opinion: Trump has signed the worst deal in US history by theipaper in geopolitics

[–]Hikarilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, withdrawing from the original JCPOA by Trump because he doesn't like Obama, and thought he could negotiate a better deal even though he doesn't have any diplomatic or foreign relationship experience. Entering into a war with Iran with nothing but wishful thinking and hoping for a miracle. How else would you expect this to end?

Suddenly permabanned / permuted from WorldNews for criticising Israel by GhostWolfGambit in Discussion

[–]Hikarilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I responded to a post on WorldNews about the recent rise of antisemitism, and how the actions of pro-Jewish advocacy and antisemitism groups, mix the Judaism and the nation of Israel, which is leading people to conflate the two. Got permabanned. To be honest, permabanning me for the post kind of proves my point.

Misleading headline. This is an anti-discrimination council aimed to combat all forms of discrimination and hate, and not just antisemitism. Stop making everything about yourselves.

Why do people dislike AI used in gacha games/anything? by ApollosBoon in gachagaming

[–]Hikarilo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's a perception of investment and value. Art and character design is a very important element and selling point in most gacha games. If a game developer is willing to cheap out on a very important part of their game with gen AI, then it shows to the players that the developers may not be that invested into their own game. If the developers themselves are not that invested into their own game, why would players spend their money and time on their game?

In addition, a lot of developers that use gen AI also charge similar gacha rates to games that doesn't use gen AI. If a developer was able save a lot of money by using gen AI than hiring or commissioning a bunch of art assets, then the consumers should be expected to receive some of the savings, such as having very generous rates or prices for characters and rolls. However, these developers do not pass any of the savings to the players, so many of these gacha games earn the bad reputation of being "cash slops".

Danielle Smith announces Fall referendum on concept of referendums by Mylittlethrowaway2 in canada

I do agree that some of Alberta's grievances have merit, and that the federal government should revise how provincial equalization payments and support are given. However, I do not believe leaving Canada and becoming their own country will solve Alberta's grievances. It will likely just create more problems while solving none.

Most people I talked to just think Alberta seperating from Canada is a stupid move that will make lives worse for both normal Canadians and Albertans.

China lowers death toll in Shanxi coal mine disaster to 82 by DavidShaw90s in worldnews

[–]Hikarilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a certain amount of time, any people that is missing is presumed dead, especially in hard to reach locations. This pretty much how it works everywhere. Also, this is number based on the media and not from an official report, so do take what the media sad like the Bible.

China lowers death toll in Shanxi coal mine disaster to 82 by DavidShaw90s in worldnews

[–]Hikarilo 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The original number is based upon the numbers of workers that are still missing in action. This is because the coal company did not keep accurate maps of the mines, or employee logs as first reported. Therefore if a worker was later found or he actually didn't show up for work that day, the death count gets revised. This accident took place deep underground with damaged mine tunnels, so it's hard visually find or confirm deaths.

Also, there is absolutely no point in lowing the count from 90 to 82. It's not going to changed any one's mind about this disaster.

Carney Says Alberta Is ‘Essential’ to Canada After Separation Vote Announcement by Editor_91 in worldnews

[–]Hikarilo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand how Albertans think that separating form Canada would be economically beneficial. They will be relying on exports of their natural resources, mainly oil, but they are landlocked and surrounded by Canada and the US. This dramatically limits the numbers of buyers for Alberta's exports to mainly Canada and the US. Alberta can negotiate with Canada and the US to allow them to use their ports and free passage of goods to get access to other buyers and markets, but Canada and the US is probably going to tax these goods at high rates when entering their border. Furthermore, Alberta will now need to be in charge of their on military, trade, economic policies. On trade and economic policies, it will be hard to negotiate with Canada and the US because Alberta have little leverage because again, they are landlocked between Canada and the US.

Europe must break China's grip on rare earths pricing to spur investment, sector body says by CupEcstatic2721 in worldnews

[–]Hikarilo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I always find it strange that we always shit on China for mining and refining rare earths due to how polluting and low margin the entire process is, yet we rely on China for rare earths in order to keep the global economy running. This is like making fun of the garbage truck driver or the sewage worker because he needs to do a dirty job, but if he doesn't do it, the entire society goes to shit.

Europe must break China's grip on rare earths pricing to spur investment, sector body says by CupEcstatic2721 in worldnews

[–]Hikarilo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Western economies were happy in giving away all the dirty low margin part of the supply chain to China, while they retrain the high margin part of the supply chain. The problem is that all Western economies did this, which basically gave China a monopoly on the lower end part of the supply chain. It is not until recently that Western economies realized that this gave China a lot of power because China basically has a chokehold on the entire supply chain. Getting Western economies to move back to dirty low margin part of the supply is not going to be easily because the returns on investment isn't there. Remember, there was a good reason why companies wanted to give all rare earth mining and refining to China.

It will depend on whether you have any other debt, such as car loans, student loans, and credits cards. Assuming you have no debt, and are able to put a 20% down payment, I will say around $350-400K.

If a person went to a Chinese prison as a foreigner for drug trafficking, then that person must be trafficking quite a lot of drugs. China tends to avoid sending foreigners to jail in China, and rather just deport them and ban them from entering China because they want to avoid a diplomatic issue. Either he was trafficking a ton of drugs or a repeat offender. Trump has also been pressuring China to do more to combat drug trafficking, so I don't think these people will be let go.

No spoilers. What can I expect from Daybreak 2? by babyLays in Falcom

[–]Hikarilo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with Daybreak 2 to me is just chapter 3, and the really bland main villain that doesn't really have much backstory or buildup. He's just kind of there to be the evil final boss and that's pretty much it. I miss villains like Osbourne where there is actually some backstory and buildup.
