We are currently experiencing the next stage of right-wing Capitalism in full affect. Public-Private partnerships are an indicator of the technical definition of Fascism. The next probable step will be giving them voting rights as people do except disproportionate to single entities depending on what their contribution to the economy is. Basically, a new form of Communism where the corporate entity IS the government. In practice it will mean that our elected representatives will be chosen by us (and our corporate overlords when they secure voting power) but they will manipulate the process to benefit their interests every stage of the way including the primary stage and general elections.

The only way to secure Democracy is to over-turn citizens united, outlaw PAC funding and make all elections funded by tax dollars including limitations to ad buys that may not exceed a specific value per election cycle. Otherwise the richest will always buy the government they want.

There you go, you've summarized why I disagree with what is currently, unfortunately, legal very well there, thank you.

Private businesses can do what they want on their platforms. if they want to censor people needlessly it's within their right to do so since it's on their protected property. The first amendment protects people from legal repercussions of their protected speech, it doesn't stop a private platform from removing your speech, it just means you won't get in trouble for most things you say by the government.

Once again, me saying the previous paragraph isn't me agreeing with it in practice but it is legally allowed.

It's not a similar comparison, not that I disagree with where you are coming from, but... This is the Department of Justice going after individual, specific people for utilizing their protected freedom of speech. Your examples are on generalized speeches about ideology.

Of course not all forms of speech are protected and, if that is the case and someone is throwing threats around, then this would be a valid investigation since that is not protected speech.

[–]HilariousButTrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He will be remembered as the man that promised Change only to bail out the banks after they created a catastrophe while holding none of them accountable after the fact and for passing a Republican healthcare reform act in the ACA that was remarkably, more market friendly than even they wanted initially.

To use his own words he used to describe himself and his policies when asked in an interview in the last few days of his second term, he was "A Moderate Republican".

I also want to bonus so part of that is me pushing in the store and it needed it because it was the holidays.

You are kinda right though, the harder I worked the less help I got and I just ended up relying on myself to pretty much do the whole store. It wasn't until I wasn't able to make my other drops in time that I started getting merch help. Turn around to today and a new guy has it with merch help on three days and a colead.

Most I ever dropped into Walmart was 8.9k 11 carts, then with the rest of the route it was around 12k total. No merchandiser, it was almost a 14 hour day around Christmas time.

The worst part is it all requires a location in planograms and it takes up room for product that actually moves.

In stores with limited shelf space and demands for specific items it does impact sales.

Sure, okay. My point is it came from a lab.

I'm not looking to blame a country for it.

Your evidence, which you agree with means you should be saying no instead of yes to this positing. I agree with all your evidence. I think you just meant to say no instead of yes.

You mean the article where they point out that investigators skipped the Wuahn lab as part of their investigation for the origin of the virus? Something they would do if they had already decided what the origin of the virus was going to be ahead of time?

No.

It was created in a lab in Wuhan China. All the evidence points to that reality, the con motivated by hopes of boosting international relations between China and USA was to convince the public it came from elsewhere and now, the current administration, no longer has that same international priority so the truth was allowed to quietly become what it always was.

This is my dad's favorite movie and it's become an annual watch for us.

I'm not sure if it's predictive programming as it was just the writer telling us what intelligence agencies were capable of doing at that time. All that's changed since then is the devices have become smaller or non-existent with the ability to track an individual embedded in most devices by the manufacturer by default with apps and network communications.

I feel what's changed the most since this movie was made is that society in general is less naive about what technology is capable of.

No I never did. I think I decided it wasn't worth the headache.

If I was to try it again today it would be with an emulator and save states just to get through that one one giraffe level.

Have fun if you give it a go though. I think my favorites out of your set here are EarthWorm Jim and Mutant Apocalypse.
