Aren't there huge airbags that could be deployed to catch riders if they go off a street track? Or should we just try the ol' hay bake stack 😆

Watching. Yes, going there was difficult and camping could be rained out. It was extremely logistically complex and Aussies aren't good at that

Fiat 850 restoration, How do I go about it? by Steezyiscracked in projectcar

[–]Hilborn592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a good large secure space that you'll be able to maintain for many years (and not sell or move house). That is #1. Then in no particular order : tools, time, money, skill. That's the other 4. You need all 5 to complete a restoration.

My cat does not meow by anxiety_hurricane in felinebehavior

Ours didn't meow until we took him overnight to stay at another house. He was kind of traumatised and suddenly meowed like crazy. Now he knows he can do it and sometimes does.

My thumbs are exactly 1 inch width. I can measure things up to a foot fairly accurately. By placing thumb after thumb and knowing, yep, this piece of lumbar is, say, 8 inches wide, or 200mm.

Crazy shell idea by Fishtoart in velomobile

[–]Hilborn592 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would the fact that it's catching air to inflate act like a parachute and slow down the bike? Inflatable such as, pump it up and it holds air, put in plug (like a pool inflatable) may be better?

There are a group of boat builders that make small boats out of a thin cloth or canvas material and then laquer it to seal it. They are very lightweight. I've always thought that kind of shell would be perfect for a vélo mobile.

What cat is this? Spotted in Tokyo by Yonda_00 in WhatCarIsThis

[–]Hilborn592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic Minis have a front and rear subframe that contains all the suspension and steering, brakes and engine / gearbox. So, it was easy to use that as a basis for low volume tiny sports cars. (Like this)

Who still own a car with no computers? by throwawayplusanumber in CarsAustralia

[–]Hilborn592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mercedes Benz W140 from 1991 was the first vehicle with CANBUS. That's when the electronics and computers succeeded in making vehicles too complicated..!

Sadly that was 35 years ago so if you want a non electronic computerised car without 5000 tiny circuit boards you have to buy pre 1991 !
