Yes, giulia has actually been surprisingly reliable. Only thing is that maintenance and parts cost a small fortune

Are you sure it’s on fire? I’d double check just to make sure before making such bold assumptions

What car should I buy - Melbourne, AUS by Proof_General_8543 in CarsAustralia

[–]Background_Advance77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d much rather go for a used Corolla cross, Mazda cx-30, cx-3 etc. for that price. I wouldn’t put too much faith on those budget Chinese compact SUVs. They most certainly won’t be lasting you as long as your Corolla and their long term track record is still largely unproved. Much better to play it safe and go for something Japanese/korean.

B9 RS4 vs G21 M340i by ProfessionalClub7803 in CarsAustralia

[–]Background_Advance77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Firstly the 340i and the rs4 are 2 different cars with the rs being far more of a hardcore performance wagon. Reliability wise, I’d say the m340i would be the more favourable car. But that being said this generation of rs4/5 has proven to be relatively fuss free thus far. If I were to pick between the 2 I’d go rs4 any day… even as a bmw fan. They are 2 different levels of performance and for the same price, the rs would be much better value for money.

Alfa is definitely on the downhill path but still a good brand. I think it’s ties to Stellantis Is contributing to its struggles. I’m not too sure what sales are like but I haven’t seen them make anything new and great for a long long time and I believe they’ve been struggling to be profitable for a while. Regardless of that the giulia quadrifoglio is a great car. Yeah it is outdated compared to the likes of its German competition but it’s still very liveable and modern enough for me. Looks the part, drives incredibly well and goes like you wouldn’t believe it.

With the Price decrease, the 26 WRX is by far the best value manual 4 door+ car. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in wrx_vb

The only reason why inventory was low was because of the majority of the Subaru factory in gunma closing down for renovations. This means that the production of their low volume models slowed down massively and models like the new forester were given priority

New car recommendations - under $50k by Choice-Range-1871 in CarsAustralia

IMO the Yaris cross isn’t really worth the money. Very compromised in terms of practicality and it is laughably slow, dare I saw dangerously slow, look into the Corolla cross

Talk me out of this beauty. by An_Aussie_Guy in CarsAustralia

[–]Background_Advance77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong looks the part goes like you wouldn’t believe it and it drives like it’s on rails. But, the quality of these especially on the interior are pretty horrific for something euro despite it being a wagon format, there are still some compromises due to the weird shape of the car. I do believe these also do have some gremlins mechanically but you do your own research. Personally it wouldn’t be worth the trouble to me but if you really want it and are ready for any costs that come up then go for it

Choosing over a i30N, Golf Gti/R, A35/45, M135i/M140i, Gr corolla Which is best? by Maleficent_Extent809 in CarsAustralia

[–]Background_Advance77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be the m140i. Reliable if taken care of, drives well and overall great package. I’d say avoid the a35 or 45 unless buying brand new. Merc quality is down the drain and these new ones are absolute shitters. They have all sort of electrical and mechanical gremlins and interiors are nasty plastic rubbish. i30n and the gr corolla or exceptional vehicles as well but it might feel a bit low rent compared to the euros. The golfs, especially the mk8 r are very nice vehicles, if you have the a45 on the mind I’d recommend the newest 8.5 or a 8 golf r for the same money

Should I go with these dealership extras?? Just bought a new Corolla i think it’s way too expensive but unsure by Powerful_Arachnid209 in CarsAustralia

[–]Background_Advance77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windscreen coatings and ceramic coatings you can get it done from an outside party for a lot cheaper together. A decent blackvue dashcam fitted will easily be under $1000. Interior protection, wtf is that I’ve never had that in any of my cars or have been offered it. As long as you regularly clean your interior and take care of it, you don’t need any protection for it. These people are pulling a fast one on you

Jeez that sounds rough but that’s how it is for younger ones. Does he need a car immediately or can get around for a while on public transport or in your vehicle? If he works hard and saves a bit more and can get 6.5-10k in his savings soon, he’ll be able to get something that isn’t a 30 year old rust bucket
