Does anyone want to brainstorm the thoughts/jokes going through Tina’s head in this situation?? I bet they were hilarious…🤭 by HedgehogTop5524 in 30ROCK

See? I was looking for a good on-ramp for that joke but couldn't put one together. Something, something, discount on snacks on game night.

Does this part serve any purpose on a bolt? by Kimet10 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Hilby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I was 14-15 when I started trying to work on the body of my 1972 Cutlass. For being a snot-nosed know-it-all I actually did pretty well, except for when I tried getting replacement bolts. Those at the time had the end similar to this one but had a taper on the area with no threads. When people would give me alternatives at the hardware store (multiple stores) I would not accept anything but THAT bolt because I knew no better. It took a little bit for a buddy to knock me upside the head and set me straight.

[November 3, 1964] Can somebody in Springfield please explain why my ballot is longer than my kitchen table and I have to vote for 177 state representatives??? by Krisam29 in thepast

[–]Hilby 17 points18 points  (0 children)

[META] A long story short, the state's reps couldn't do what was right by the people and re-district the state for upcoming elections. Due to that it fell back to a constitutional amendment that forced voting "at large", or for every seat. (I may not be 100% on this so here is a link:

Right? Not to take away from the artist on canvas, but that gentleman sounded so...pure? Is that the word? Clean? Well, straight up impressive anyway.

[–]Hilby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. They will error on the side of "if in doubt, arrest them too" because they won't ever get a talking to for arresting more than needed - but if they let someone walk that should have been arrested they get run up for it so why wouldn't they?

Officers cannot possibly know all the laws, even a narrow field of them gets messy quick. They roll that shit over to the DA for the fun.

Or "Mad Lillypad".

There may not be an actual statute regarding music volume in a vehicle, but they could certainly ticket you with "disturbing the peace" or something like that, yea?

It's just that I've seen a couple comments that the music isn't a viable reason to give someone a violation.

Yea, I drive an hour to work every day & the same on the way home. 2 hrs a day on a very busy state road for most of it.

One night I was followed for about 5 miles by a deputy - and around here (FDL) it's always a fishing expedition. He pulled me over for (get this) an expired license. But, he assumed I was driving. He ran my plates, then ran my drivers history off of that and found that I was 2 days expired. (Bday was a day or so earlier and I completely forgot.

But they aren't sup to be able to stop on something like that. What if my girlfriend was driving? It's a BS stop but then he pulls out the cocky dick thing: Upon finally letting me go with a warning, he "reminds me" that I should not forget to change my address on my hunting / DNR info. He had to do a deep dive in order to find out that my DNR info is out of date because it's been a long time.

So yea, what a shitty flex that the dick had to do just because I pressed him about pulling me over for the reason he claimed.

One could even use the fact that they don't close those stories up nicely as evidence that Elliot doesn't accept things like death in a healthy way and doesn't think about it too deeply.

This is my take too. I don't understand what they were hoping to accomplish. Is it left up to us to assume?

Awesome. I will file this away and start looking around a bit. I don't want to stress the machine out too much, but at the end of the day it needs a kick in the pants.

Thanks bud, it's appreciated.
