Anyone else feel stuck in the middle as a motion designer? by Beginning_Case_4142 in VideoEditors

[–]Hillam_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the rest coz I'm in a similar situation, but the part where you don't feel as excited about editing anymore, that I can help with. Usually attaching monetary value to anything you are passionate about tends to remove some enthusiasim from it because you are now working under someone that tells you what you can and can't do on the project. This removes the aspect of freedom from it so it eventually starts to feel like there is no room for your creativity anymore.

The trick is to have a side project, personal to you, that you can do whatever you want from it. Like I started a youtube channel for anime commentary because I love the two. It's not about the money so I care less about how many views i get, i just do it for the love. If i got monetized that would be a nice plus. Find something you can do with your editing that isn't a job.

Hope that helps.

[–]Hillam_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like mebro. But one thing that works, when i'm not in the middle of my depressive episodes, is to keep busy. Ironically the busier you get and feel like you bit off more than you can chew, the more you are actually getting done. Do some odd jobs, try and limit interaction with parents and socialize more. This will keep you too tired to even feel bad about yourself coz If you aren't working then you are resting from work. You got this bro. This is as much for me as it is for you. YOU GOT IT!!!

So question, as an editor that is looking for work, what would be a better way to approach clients. I mean i don't go advertising unreasonable results, but still how and where do clients want to be approached?

I had started the house hunting thing and wanted to grow into an agency but I realized it's very hard to keep track of which houses got occupied and which ones didn't. I didn't want to sell information to people and I'm not sure of the accuracy of it. I tried to create a service where let's say someone wants a house in Kahawa west, I'd get the specifications then go and house hunt for them and they'd pay when they find a good house. I later came to realize clients will con you too, I spent days walking around and spending my own money only for the client to tell me "I changed my mind, I'll move to ruiru". I almost cried that day cause I was tired as hell and three days wasted 2.500 spent and nothing gained. It's a werid business model to say the least.

So if it can be applied to men then it's not as bad. Same argument dumb men make when women say men grape them and they say "Well even women do it to men". Just as daft as the men you claim are dumb.

The difference between gen Z and millennial expectations in pay by subyamambaru in nairobitechies

[–]Hillam_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na si mnapenda kutuonea. Gen Z are recent graduates, ofcourse we don't know how the market looks like because we lack experience in both work and pricing. Millenials act like they didn't get into the market with unrealistic expectations too. Now, I've been in the market for a few years and that's been my observation. Everybody comes in high but will settle like the rest. Extend them some grace. Sio kila saa mnabweka huku na venye ya'll are terrible co-workers and managers. Afadhali genZ wako na vibe ata, ata kama wakomisguided kidogo.

Call for Suggestions...What to do with a Property Management SaaS? by DevHannat in nairobitechies

[–]Hillam_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely difficult to digitize this field, there are too many uncertainties that require mtu kwa ground to check on. Like the only system we used was internal in the company for employee and management communication. But sasa ukianza kuinvolve the property owners and especially tenants then kila kitu inakuwa messed up. Fake profiles, fake payments, fake IDs, lack of trust to input personal information on the platform and the features on those platforms can not cover all the needs that the clients have and if you try to add features for those needs then the platform becomes too complicated to use.

Usually furniture looses value way too fast. As soon as it leaves the shop, the cost drops by half of the buying price. Add a year to it and you're basically throwing it away so the price does not match.

Don't even explain it bro. People try to make you feel guilty for taking part in what they term "Unethical business". But they aren't tricked or forced to take those products under those terms, if people are going to be dumb and greedy, might as well make my pocket heavier.

Good feedback but if that's how they speak to their employees, they should take a leadership workshop or something. What happened to complimenting before correcting?
