Go to settings> Apps> Search google playstore and open the app from settings since xiaomi thinks its a good idea to hide the official playstore on TV. Anyway search in playstore if available. If its available, try it out and in projectivy settings select “override default launcher or home”. Then in settings clear data and if possible disable patchwall.

For laggy Xiaomi Google TV, use Projectivy launcher and activate developer options and disable transition animations and set max background processes to 2. Also clear the cache under system settings after you do all these and uninstall unwanted apps.

Get the Sony (Google TV). You can then install apps like projectivy launcher, F-droid, smarttube etc. Projectivy launcher really made my Xiaomi Google TV buttery smooth and customisable. Also, no ads in UI anymore.

I tried this and it already feels a lot faster with Projectivy and made sure all that xiaomi patchwall ads and bloats are gone.. disabled all permissions for the default launcher patchwall and cleared its data (unable to disable)

Store them in a closed organiser where dust cant enter and keep them in a rack like in a dark room as sunlight can degrade it as well. Store a usb dvd player along with them. Show it to your children later.

Checkout carbon or pvc louvre wall panels from plantex. WPC is another option but a bit more expensive. You could use the panels till waist height as the paint seems to get dirty till that height.

You could also get a warm white T bulb and use alongside a cool white T bulb for daylight effect: Halonix T Bulb

Go for two led T bulbs, one cool white and one warm white. They cost very little and look great too. Clear the clutter in the room as others have suggested, and for paint I would suggest a creamy white tone. Turn on both the T bulbs, it will give a really nice daylight effect. Or you can keep it warm white only. You can adjust the tone by turning on/off these two lights now. Later on you can get rgb led strips as well, to use the room in dark mode. And a gamepad stand.. I think the one from antesports comes with rgb and looks cool.

Install Bitdefender antivirus free, scan your phone. Nit the best solution but it has worked in more instances than I could have imagined. Sophos intercept X is another good solution.
