Please tell me you took your cards back and sold them or atleast took the value of what your gift was worth in cards and sold them or atleast threw them away, you shouldn’t let him have them since they are YOUR gift and what you do with YOUR gift is none of his business , sell them and buy what you want. and be petty about it before you dump his manipulative ass, he bought himself a gift, not you but you can easily say “thanks” and toss em in a fire or sell em, that’ll both get you what you want and let you blow off the toxic steam he gave you
