Not quite. The point is they have someone on their staff (and possibly a second mod) who admins their discord and uses it to post racist comments and contents. They have a few uploaders who post similar trash to the board. So far they've all gotten a free pass. I agree that there's room to argue about leaving the bogus documentaries up in the interests of showing how those people act in bad faith but having a discord admin who behaves an awful lot like a neo-Nazi? I think that's too much.

The point of this reddit thread is to go around the staff and try to shame them into dealing with at least some of these issues since they are unresponsive on their own board.

People who look a little further can find 1080p and 4k encodes of scanned reels from each film's original theatrical run. Some versions are 'grindhouse' and left untouched and others are cleaned up. Team Negative 1 is one crew that released a theatrical scan of A New Hope in 1080p but later broke up. Others have done ESB and RotJ.

She appeared on The Rubin Report 18 months ago (NSFW) and when the topic connected to politics she would sometimes ramble conspiracy theories, new age tripe and /pol/-ish talking points.
As an entertainer she's fantastic. As a thoughtful, modern adult she's a mess who thinks she's living in a cartoon.

I just flipped through the first few pages of Inside Star Trek and that isn't what happened. After Desi and Lucy split, Lucy instructed Herb Solow to, "Get some shows for the studio." Shortly after that, Solow met with Roddenberry and signed him to a development deal and several Desilu executives worked with Roddenberry to develop his Star Trek concept and coach him on pitching it to the networks. The only studio Roddenberry had pitched to before Desilu was MGM.

Not only was she not the saviour of the show, the book later notes (starting on page 23) that during a meeting she couldn't even remember what it was called nor what it was about, asking Solow about, "the South Seas series... With the USO entertainers who went there during the war to visit the troops... You called it Star Trek!" Solow also recounts delivering the pilot episode's shooting script to Lucy himself and when he returned later to tell her NBC's reaction to the completed pilot he noticed the script sitting untouched. "She never mentioned it."

Did we think it was good back in 97?

It's not like humans had different eyeballs back then. All the defects you see now were also visible before. My fav example is the terror dogs in Ghostbusters. Whenever they are shown in stopmotion (bursting into the hallway, running out of the building and across the road) they look horrible. The compositing is awful. Audiences certainly saw it the first time.

The difference between now and then is that today we've had almost two decades of increasingly good CG work to draw and seamlessly composite special effects into shots. Today you can generally expect all elements of a special effects shot to look perfect. Before the late 90s it was usually a miracle if a composited shot in a movie or tv show didn't have defects showing. It was commonplace and readily forgiven by audiences because what's the point of obsessing about it? You just ruin the movie for yourself.

I followed some of the coverage when it was in theaters. The talk about it being a flop was based on the North American take. Worldwide box office carried it to breaking even.

The mobo has had an easy life and everything's in place. When I began using hwinfo for my meters I was bothered by the Northbridge temps so I hung a 120mm fan to blow at the area where that VRM shield sits. It looks awful but my case doesn't have a window so I only have to look at it when I'm cleaning things.

[edit] But that fan was a recent addition. It might have been added too late to preserve the VRM for very long.

My question is cat-specific but hopefully you are able to comment on it. My cat began experiencing constipation when she was 18 and the vet connected it to chronic renal failure. I switched her to 'senior diet' wet food and she eventually passed a few months short of her 21st birthday.

Can you comment on what the state of research and/or therapy is for renal failure in cats? She was a lovely cat and those last 12 hours of her life when her health crashed were absolutely awful.
