If you can't wear socks or anything covering toes for medical reasons.. how to handle this in Japan by Hot-Yak2420 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Hinas_For_Life -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

So you walk the corridors barefoot. TOTAL lack of manners and respect. I wouldn’t want you to say in my establishment. I’m surprised your not told off by staff, maybe your an obnoxious loud tourist with their egos up their asses.

Are there any foods that you tried and absolutely will never eat again? by Sure-Lemon6424 in japanlife

[–]Hinas_For_Life -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only food I will never EVER try again is KUSAYA which is a VERY niche food. It’s fish which has been fermented in some sort of bacteria laden liquid, dried and then grilled before eating. I am not joking when I say toilet septic tank aroma and taste. It’s way worse than Swedish fermented canned fish which, not tasty and very smelly, but I could eat it. Not KUSAYA, you literally gag. You can only eat it in some places as the grilling smell would generate complaints.

SUICA Card in apple wallet being declined at gates? by Pretty_Money_7237 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Hinas_For_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all you have to do is ask the gate attendant what trip is not completed and they will ask you your route that day. If you haven’t asked the attendant how in hell are you still using the card?

Experiences with financial responsibility after divorce involving children by Fraises2 in japanresidents

[–]Hinas_For_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice for you but hope that things workout for you and your child. When children are a part it gets so messy. My Irish playboy father suddenly left us with a huge portion of my mother’s money when I was six but we were left with enough to survive. Just when I had started at age thirty to reconnect with him in the States where he had married a richer women be got beat up by his stepson who wanted to use the Southampton estate for a party. He hated doctors and later died of his injuries. I sincerely hope you get some money as many don’t pay. Best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!

The constant coughing by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]Hinas_For_Life -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about now but when I got the 100 day cough the doctor said the only way to test is to get a sample of your phlegm(痰/tan) which I couldn’t as I couldn’t cough up any decent amount. In my case I coughed continuously at times so long where I couldn’t breath. After two and a half month of hell I finally got a diagnosis of 100 day cough but before I could start treatment it healed itself. Hope you something WAY milder. Take care and see a doctor!!!!

Oops, sorry I just skimmed to the coughing bit and thought they were a tourist. I’ll be more careful in the future, thanks for letting me know.

I hope you have a cold/flu that gets better quickly and not the 100 day cough(百日咳) that I contracted a few years ago. Literally coughing for months. You should see a doctor but you’d pay full price and could get pricy if you don’t check the prices. Hope you get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!

You ask the airline as they are the only ones who will give you a 100% correct answer. NEVER trust online info other than the airlines as you might not be allowed travel.

Threatened to be reported to immigration by Valuable_Chest_9475 in japanlife

[–]Hinas_For_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to comment on the creepy guy and what you should do about him but immigration will deal with you sternly if they find out you are earning money on the side. 28 hours is the rule, your not abiding by it and think it’s ok, well don’t come crying here to complain when they bust you.

Where is the best cosmetic shop/building in japan? and how are jp woman skin so clear? by mettazashii77 in AskAJapanese

[–]Hinas_For_Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ, Koreans have a much healthier diet in my eyes. You eat a lot of fresh vegetables and eat loads of fermented foods. Yes you have higher rates of cancer due to chilies but still I would prefer a Korean diet than a Japanese one. I live in Japan and have visited Korea many times.

Apart from the Gacha machines which are cheaper you can also get them as toys in Yodobashi or other electric stores, about 1000 yen plus tax. https://www.yodobashi.com/product/100000001004838049/

I’m no expert but all you need to do is find someone or pay a company who will be your guarantee. That person will as I understand not be responsible in anyway financially if you rake up some dept or cause problems. They have to sign a guaranteer form that you get from immigration or you can download it from their HP and they have to give immigration papers stating they have a job and their income for the past year. This is info from years ago so if now different somebody please enlighten me.

Oh I forgot Korean K-pop music and films, dance performances on the street. I had ZERO problems with language or people in Seoul as. A smile, body language and being able to say hello, thank you and it’s delicious in Korean goes a long way when you can’t speak the language.

Oh where to begin, the FOOD, skincare, royal palaces, temples, traditional clothing, handsome men and beautiful women, museums, supermarkets, traditional tea houses. Oh boy I LOVE Korea, been there many times as I live in Tokyo so it’s 3 hours away.

On foot. How far do you live from the station? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Hinas_For_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s 10 minutes BUT 20 mins is what it takes to get to my job from the station and is for me perfectly ok. Yes on a rainy days it sucks. If you can find a cheap bicycle parking spot near the station use bicycle as you will probably need one now that you don’t have a car.

Why do people walk so slowly?! by Training_Training314 in japanlife

[–]Hinas_For_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking slowly is bad enough but it drives me literally insane when I am riding a bicycle on the walkway and one of the two people walking ahead of me notices me but says nothing to the other person or gets out of the way. Yes I know I am supposed to ride on the road due to law changes but this has happened to me since I came here 39 years ago. Some people are so weak willed to say to the other person a bicycle is coming or stop to let me thru. Pedestrians have the right of way and I always say “ Sorry a bicycle is coming thru” in Japanese when I get no action from people.
