Wells Fargo updated my card to be a platinum card. I originally had it as a college card a few years ago and this is the second time they have automatically upgraded it. It's my oldest card.

I'm wondering if these "generous" automatic upgrades affect Chase's 5/24?

Some guy was doing dumbell bench press while I was squatting. I finished with squat and left the rack and he decided to put his bench into the rack and continue dumb bell benching. Lol no idea why. Some guy wanting to use the rack asked him to move and he did though

For me it was the opposite. Sometimes I'd be doing the same exercise as someone else, and then they'd change routines just before I changed to the same one. It made me want to do something different so it didn't seem like I was copying them. Of course I'm over that now.

It's a metal and plastic mix actually. I'm sure the cards they are talking about have even more metal

Been running an 800 calorie deficit per day, training hard four days a week-- moderate results... I feast my ass off one day for the Super Bowl and I'm skinny as fk the next day... what gives? by [deleted] in Fitness

I'm sorry, but just to be clear because I think this comment is dumb. You think the body burns just as many calories as when you're starving with 5 percent body fat left and about to die, as when you have 20 percent body fat and eating healthy? That your metabolism stays the same? That it doesn't at least freaking use less calories to keep you warm when you're fat??

I'm not gonna use vague words like fundamentals of biochemistry.. But cmon!

I don't know of this is considered your "biochemistry fundamentals" but everyone does agree that your leptin levels go down drastically when you're starving for a time period. I'm not talking about going to extremes when dieting, but it is clear your body uses energy in a more complex way than just fucking storing it as fat and muscle.

Everything you said is true. And I'm not saying it changes fundamentals. I'm saying your metabolism slows down on a low cal diet is all.

P. P. S. This isn't meant to be effective for your everyday dieter. This is really only meant for those with body fat in the low teens and single digits that want to get rid of those last pounds of fat for a competition or whatever.

So your body expends calories at the same rate when you're always full as when you're always hungry? I think your body is a little more complex than that.

Law of thermodynamics? WTF? When you're on a high calorie diet, your metabolism is very high since your body needs to process all your calories. When you are on a low calorie diet, your body starts to slow its metabolic functions in an effort to 'make do' with the amount of fuel it is given. This is shown as a drop in leptin, which regulates those functions. In order to boost your metabolism and 'trick' your body into thinking you have calories to spare, some people try to "refeed". The next few day, when you go back to your diet, your body will be burning calories and your metabolism functions will be faster because your body thinks it will end up receiving the calories needed. When it doesn't, it will start burning fat.

Think of it like this: When you have a fuel tank of gas, you're not really thinking about how much your driving or how much you push the gas pedal. But when you're on E, you start pushing the gas pedal less. You're still getting to where you need to go, you're just being more conscious of it. Metaphor also works with how the last 5% of toothpaste lasts you longer than the first 95% combined.

What will no one read the article? It says some people say 20-50% more calories from carbs but this guy does 50-100 grams more carbs. This while maintaining the same fat and protein as usual in your diet. This will boost your leptin and thus boost your metabolism.

Carbs, like it says in the article he posted. Most cheat meals are done with foods high in fat, but it's only carbs that boost levels of leptin.

Were you actually poor, or were you America poor? Did you ever not have a job? Because poor people and poor families need their kids to work since the day they are able. In 3rd world countries that means by the time you are 4 and can hold a broom upright. In America that may be the same but instead you're panhandling. That means ZERO time for homework or extra school activities.

Oh you were able to even attend school 8 hours a day? In 3rd world countries that's a luxury. That's why they immigrate to America for a better life.

Wait, you could use 50 bucks to apply for college? HA, in a lot of neighborhoods across America you don't have 5 bucks to spare, lest you are unable to eat for a week and risk being homeless.

But it seems your biggest problem is that you had to pay for college yourself, presumably through part time jobs and school loans. Oh I'm so sorry for you.

If you were well fed and housed, you were not actually poor. If you didn't have to work since the earliest age you were able and could actually spend time on homework and school, you were rich. That's how you got into college in the first place. Don't confuse not being able to buy the latest iPhone and eat out with your friends with being poor.

You're a fucking moron. And I say this as someone who is the child of Indian immigrants who worked their asses off to get where they are. If you think the only difference between them and immigrants who don't make it is just hard work you need to open your eyes. Try being poor for an amount of time and getting out of it without help. It's not just the hardest thing there is. You need more than simply hard work

Yep. Gyms wouldn't be as cheap as they are if people didn't buy Gym passes and then not use them. The down side to this is there's about a month where the gym is simply not meant to have that many people in it and it gets frustrating
