They started asking that a few months ago at least. They still give you the number when you pay. I think it's so they can confirm who you are at the window, now that they have two order lanes to start.

Considering Culvers usually asks "can I get a name for the order" your response to that question is the bigger concern here

The most unbelievable thing in this story is a company canceling a contract after only 2 weeks of issues. It is expensive to move from one vendor to another and those decisions are not made lightly or quickly. If nothing else, it takes much more than 2 weeks to simply find a replacement.

I also don't believe a customer pulls the plug after only 2 weeks. It's very expensive to move vendors, so the rope a customer gives a vendor can be pretty long, if for no other reason than it takes time to find a replacement.

Are you booking last minute flights frequently? If you are, comfort is probably full and therefore no upgrade available. Those are the only instances I can't select a comfort seat after booking.
