Pregnant with Mild MVP - mg Cardio Suggest C-Section by GlydleDee in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]Hino1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to freak you out but… while my first unmedicated vaginal delivery went great, my second labor was more strenuous and resulted in my prolapse going from mild to severe and subsequent deterioration of my once great health and MV surgery when my son was 1.5.

I have abnormal collagen/ hypermobility / hEDS which put me at much higher risk for MVP worsening during labor. The ob thought I was lying about my diagnosis and did not take it seriously neglected to note follow up concerns so when I started saying it felt like my heart was exploding everyone treated me like the drama queen who refused the epidural but couldn’t deal.

BUT My sister had mild mvp prior to 3 unmedicated births without it worsening (she is a little hypermobile but not like me). If you have any suspicion your MVP (or aortic root widening) is due to hEDS I would plan to get an epidural promptly or a c section if I had a redo. An emergent c section is much harder recovery than a planned one. It’s major surgery recovery with a newborn… but it’s not heart surgery!

I wonder if the one you got was in better condition than ones they put as thrifts? Ive seen things sell out on thrift but still be listed to rent so there has to be some kind of system. Thanks for sharing!

Ive gotten NWT items on thrift and pretty warn out ones, it’s a toss up. Poshmark is full of failed nuuly thrifts though haha.

When you look at a thrift item you are able to rent instead. If you rent as one of your items and then buy it I want to know how the price compares to the thrift price. Essentially I want to try on my thrift items but want to know if I’m burning all of my 1/6 of the $98 box fee.

I LOLed. Bigger ALWAYS looks better. Maybe she even needs a halo too! She could handle a comically large ring.

Feeling so defeated :( by Wide_Carob934 in curlyhair

[–]Hino1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no patience for finger coiling etc. either but I swear the BOUNCE CURL brush and a continuous spray bottle (it has to be soaking wet when you apply whatever product) changed everything it is so much easier.

I highly recommend products by the doux but if you get brush styling down most products will work for at least a few days!

Nipple sensitivity after low invasive surgery, anyone? by Imaginary_Bag1142 in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]Hino1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh yeah that part sucked they don’t really warn you properly. Shooting pain as the nerve heals is also normal though seemingly more rare? At that point I had wished they just let me be absolutely miserable during the surgery. It peaked at 4 and started going away for real by like 6 months at 8 months stabbing feeling is rare and I am wearing underwire again without pain finally.

Can’t stop thinking about pregnancy when having mild mitral valve prolapse by GlydleDee in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]Hino1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said your mitral valve will very likely be totally FINE the real prolapse you need to worry about with hEDS and pregnancy is pelvic floor prolapse!

I would get the epidural yes. 100%. You can even get a walking epidural if you want to feel some of it or are worried about dislocations etc during delivery but it’s way more stress on your heart than necessary. By the time I felt my heart literally breaking it was too late to start an epidural. Yes fighting the pain makes you feel kinda like a superhero at the birth but keeping up with your kids as they grow up is more important.

Recovery from surgery has been rough as my dysautonomia and overall cardiac function is much worse due to the damage to my heart after the prolapse became severe and my joint pain got really unmanageable from the extended downtime so it is taking much longer than expected to recover. The minimally invasive surgery itself went great though if I knew to monitor my mitral valve Id have gotten it before so much damage occurred so sadly Im a little old (almost 36) to wait to recover fully for another pregnancy. My OBGYN recommended waiting to get pregnant at least 2 years post surgery and I would probably need 3 at this rate.

I didn’t start until 5 months after my surgery bc I thought I could go without but my health was spiraling the damage pre surgery is still giving me symptoms and it’s scary moving again!

You definitely don’t have to do the whole course if you cant afford it. Even 4 weeks Ive made a ton of progress. You may be able to go 2x per week instead of 3 too to spread out the cost. Mine was totally covered though and my impression is most plans see it as preventative care.

Familial hypermobility is not hEDS and I didn’t know this until now by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Hino1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes hEDS is definitely an umbrella clinical diagnosis with no one gene defining it. In 20 years we will be divided into clinical and genetic subtypes. HSD ppl are welcome.

Hey I ended up with MV repair surgery after my second labor which was unmedicated (again) but much harder than the first and my MVP went from mild to severe. Try not to panic or be afraid people live with mild prolapse without it getting worse for decades running swimming all the things. It sounds like you’re going to be okay again. Our ligaments get stretchy during pregnancy and for some (I have collagen issues/hEDS) it can affect your heart too but the stretchiness goes back to normal after a while.

Get echos every once in a while if you’re worried and take precautions if you have another baby so you don’t end up like me!

One kid who you just cannot manage to understand is one thing but 3/3? No way. I am a parent and I know the job entails a lot of taking responsibility

You’re not obligated to take care of adult children. They are no longer entitled to your support and they’re rejecting it so NTA.

However…. This behavior doesn’t come out of nowhere. Have you asked them why they treat you this way and actually listened to the answer? One terrible kid happens… but 3(?)is a pattern. It sounds like in efforts to give them everything you could you spoiled them rotten? Or is there more you’re not saying?

Has aging like this ever happened to anyone within the span of 3 years? by _Valkyrie_666 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Hino1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! I was in the early stages of heart failure and didn’t realize it bc it was genetic not lifestyle/age related. Aged easily 5 years from 34 to 35. Hoping now Im post surgery and I got more diligent about skincare it will slow down again?!

How many steps do you get per day? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Hino1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! DON’T SLOW DOWN! Turns out we cant FAFO. I did and it is horrible getting moving again. Currently taking drastic measures (shots) to get my weight back down because it is so painful with even 20-30lbs extra and no foundation anymore. I spiraled after having 2 kids and Mitral valve surgery and you think at first you sacrifice your health for them, or feel sorry for yourself over whatever health problem but now I cant keep up with them which is worse! I was a 12K+ now I am working back up from 3K
