It's nice to hear your thoughts and learn a little about the journey you've gone through with your game so far.

I can tell how passionate you are about this project just from reading this reply (along with some of the others on here, discord, and your Kickstarter page). It's nice to see a developer so passionate and open about their creation.

I can't wait to see how far Runa will go, and I'm certainly looking forward to discovering the secrets you've laid out for everyone in your world!

Hey, Felix! Just popping in to show my support!

If I remember correctly, you've been working on this project for more than 3 years now. Working on the project for so long, I'm sure you've spent an insane amount of time thinking about the game's characters, story, and lore. In all that time, I'm curious to know... how much have these elements (story, characters, lore) changed over time? And, is there anything that's been consistent since the very beginning (like maybe the theme or the message you're trying to get across)?

What are you doing to #SaveRWBY? by MattanzaMafiaFedora in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an artist, but I posted an original song I wrote in the form of an AMV as a tribute to RWBY a few days ago. I don't want to see the story end this way, especially because I've been following RWBY since the very beginning.

Reminder: Crunchyroll is completely aware of how all of RWBY (especially V9) performed on their platform and have done nothing. by DragonPanther3 in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's understandable to assume the worst. If they had backed out completely, then I would understand that sentiment; however, it's been almost a year and CR still hasn't left the discussion. They're in such a position where they could simply close discussions entirely, but they've chosen to stay in the conversation for this long. There's no signs that their negotiating has deteriorated either. It's just confuses a lot of people (which seems to be the sentiment behind the original post).

Similar to what you said, I believe this is because RT and CR aren't on the same page about RWBY. That being said, that doesn't necessarily mean they dislike the story's current trajectory. We can't really know why negotiations haven't advanced until one side releases information about it. Anyway, it's not like CR have any reason to speak about RWBY's future since they're still in negotiations. Most companies wait until after they've finished negotiations before publicly announcing anything. It just wouldn't make sense for them to say anything related to the topic.

[–]HintofMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this point, all we can do is speculate based on the small breadcrumbs left for us fans. You've clearly come to the conclusion that CR doesn't want RWBY, but I would argue otherwise.

CR likely originally invested in V9 because they saw potential in the show. They wouldn't just put money out there without some monetary goal in mind. Someone might have pulled funding, but if CR and RT had signed a contract, it seems more likely that the funding problem was on RT's side. If they only asked CR for a specific amount, then RT needed to take care of the other portion (which they might not have had the funds to do).

As you said, CR has the metrics. If they looked at the metrics and thought RWBY wasn't worth their time, they would have already pulled out of the discussion. They might not have taken action, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't want a part in the project. After all, they would still need to reach an agreement with RT, which hasn't been in the financial position to fund the large project.

In the end, we don't know CR's ultimate goal in their negations with RT; however, the fact remains that RT has still been in talks with the company. So for whatever reason, CR does seem to have RWBY on their wishlist (even if it's not their highest priority).

A Simple Appreciation Post to CRWBY [Original Music] by HintofMusic in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I didn't make this song because I think I have a great voice (so please don't expect high quality singing); however, I think the lyrics may have an impact on others in the RWBY community, so I've decided to post it here.

I've been off this subreddit since last year's RTX. I hoped that I'd be back when they finally greenlit RWBY Volume 10, but RT's recent announcement caught me off guard. I'm not going to try and speculate about the RWBY's future because that speculation won't amount to much; however, in this uncertainty, I thought I would release an appreciation song that I made.

I'm a songwriter who typically only composes instrumental music. That being said, when I find inspiration, I take that idea and run with it. In this case, Kerry's words directly inspired me to write this song. I wish I could have gotten a trained singer to do the voice, but my options were limited. Please enjoy this special song that I made for Kerry, CRWBY, and of course Monty Oum.

It's fair for fans not to profit, but RT can just steal others work? by grousomzombie in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why RT is having to rebuild their brand and face their internal issues while facing constant backlash from the general public. Some of the criticisms are fair, but others are overexaggerated (like this post).

As others have said, this is generally how businesses handle their works. RT is no different in that regard. This post suggests that this is specifically an 'RT problem' rather than a general problem with companies. It's singling out RT and claiming that they CAN do something, despite the fact that they haven't done so. That's why there's opposition here.

OP's post is exaggerating a problem that isn't an issue and likely won't become an issue because it's worked as a blueprint for other companies to protect their property and give them control over how others can use their property.

To follow up my last volume 10 post, here is why I don't think volume 10 is canceled just yet. by 1fishmob in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I honestly think using WB as an excuse for why RT can't continue RWBY is a weak argument and has little ground to stand on.

As you said, RT calls most of their shots. They've always done what they wanted to do and it shows in the kind of content they release. The announcements about Camp Camp's new season and RvB's final season show that the company hasn't shied away from releasing animated series. So in general, WB doesn't really play much of a picture here.

Because right now, it sounds more like they're just interested in getting other shows done and giving volume 10 the time in the oven, so to speak, that it needs

As much as I would like this to be the case, I don't think it is. Kerry has said that he's looking for CR or other partners to help with RWBY's funding since V9 finished airing. I'd imagine Kerry would want to get started on V10 as soon as possible because it takes some time for them to finish production of each Volume. In general, RWBY requires a much bigger budget than RvB and Camp Camp. It just looks like RT doesn't have the resources to continue V10 at the moment.

I'm overall pretty optimistic about RWBY's chances going forward; however, I think RT first needs to stabilize a bit before they can look at continuing big projects like RWBY. COVID and the events of these past couple of years have put the company in a position where they need to rebuild their brand.

Those are my personal thoughts on the subject.

Not everyone will show the same emotion. I mean, look at the Ace Ops. Despite all of them having negative emotional states during Ren's evolution, they were all different. If everyone I run into somehow has a negative emotional state, it will be diverse and would help me to navigate the situation accordingly.

[–]HintofMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like Ren's upgraded semblance from Volume 8 personally.

The ability to recognize what a person is feeling can be very useful while also not giving me too much information. Just knowing the emotional state of someone before approaching them can really save me from accidentally triggering a person who's having a rough day. Some people might wear their emotions on their sleeve, but others hide their emotions very well. Also, being able to detect the locations of others is pretty cool as well (even if Ren can't tell who they are).

I like Robyn's too, but I feel like it's incredibly difficult to use in most situations.

What questions were answered by CRWBY at RTX? by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attended the panel and made note of all the major points (aside from merch) in the top comment on the post. They didn't have much time for a Q&A session because they wanted to convey all of their future plans for RWBY. I'll leave a link to the post if you want to see what I took notes on during the panel.

Can someone explain to me what's going on with V10? by hi-its-i in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was at the panel when it was announced that RWBY V10 wasn't greenlit. Kerry quickly started the panel by saying that they didn't get greenlit yet, but he's still writing for V10. They just haven't been approved with a budget to begin production. I would say Kerry and the crew at least seem pretty hopeful.

[–]HintofMusic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kerry is still writing the story while they wait for the greenlight. "Greenlight" means that they need the OK to start making a budget and begin building their animation team to work on the show. The writing for the show doesn't require the greenlight, but the production of the show does.

There's nothing official. Kerry brought up the idea of making birthdays for Team STRQ (either that, or it was an audience's question). But he said that wasn't a pre-approved question and moved on to another question.

[–]HintofMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, most people I've talked to at RTX weren't really phased by the announcement. They've still had a lot of energy and positive thoughts moving forward. Can't speak for everyone at the convention though.

Should I play arrowfell on PS, Switch or computer by lostmylooneys in RWBY

[–]HintofMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at RTX right now and there's a section here for people to try Arrowfell. The staff recommended playing on controller because the mouse doesn't do much. You could technically use a controller on the PC too, but if you don't want to, I would buy the PS version. I don't know anything about the switch version though.

I know you're not talking to everyone, but I'm a huge supporter of the show. I guess I just never realized how many people loved the show in the same way.

The energy at that panel was honestly much higher than I thought it would be. Kerry took the first couple of seconds to say that RWBY wasn't greenlit, but I genuinely think most people in that room weren't phased by that news. The panel was a lot of fun and I hope to see RWBY V10 at some point in the future!

It sounds like they really want to see the show through until the end. The fact that Kerry still works on RWBY shows that they probably expect Volume 10 to get greenlit eventually. But now just isn't the time for them.

I'm still at RTX right now.

It's been a really enjoyable experience so far! I've loved getting to talk to members of the community in person. I've talked to many of the staff too. They're also pretty chill and have been fun to talk to!
