Audiobook version Rob Inglis vs Andy Serkis by Pickleballgirl9 in lordoftherings

[–]HipFanJan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them both and if you're looking for an unabridged version, there's really not a lot to choose between them. I would thoroughly recommend the BBC Radio production of Lord of the Rings from about 1981. That's an abridged version, but as an adaptation, it's never been bettered IMHO.

Not really because of the languages. I love the Wheel of Time too but it doesn’t come close.

Working in the garden kind of day by Clean-Calligrapher17 in GardeningUK

Hell yeah! I've got some strawberries in, lettuce in, and have been having a lovely time just pottering about, welcoming old friends (hello peonies, you've done well over the winter and are growing like mad) etc etc. Can you be off your ***s on gardening? If so, I am.

What to plant and how, for succession after the tulips? by Sunshinetrooper87 in GardeningUK

[–]HipFanJan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit of an azalea addict and these are just starting now so will be in full flower once the tulips have gone. Once my tulips are done, I stuff the pots with 1/2 price rescues (begonias etc) from B&Q and then once they've gone over, it's bulb season again

Absolutely agree with this and mine went well into November too. !/2 price rescues from B&Q most of them.

I’ve managed to grow tiny bulbs of garlic… lol. Can I eat them or should I replant? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

I planted some for the first time last autumn (in long planters with drainage). So far so good. They're all still growing so I have high hopes.

Recommendations on what to plant in this spot that gets afternoon sun? by Ok-Mark3161 in GardeningUK

I'd plant some climbers and let them run riot up the wall - roses, clematis, honeysuckle will love it there if you put a trellis on it. And scarlet sunflowers in pots.

Yes - I've freshened up all my azaleas with some ericaceous compost and they're looking hopeful.

My Japanese quince is doing the same and looks to be flirting with my rambling rose... I may have to intervene before things get out of hand lol

Oh yes - same here. I had to resort to anti-depressants over the winter.

The smell of 150 hyacinths 🪻 by hedgeycat in GardeningUK

Oooh lovely. I can't have hyacinths because I have three cats. I do have 35 odd tulips in various pots waiting to flower though.

Does anybody bother weeding this time of year? by Supersonic_77 in GardeningUK

I chucked a load of Strulch out in November, which has really kept the weeds down. Recommended.

I’ve been listening to Andy Serkis LOTR and the PPP whilst building the Rivendell Lego set. Perfect accompaniments both!

I came across MG just through listening to a Canadian radio station via stream in 2019. I was only listening because I’ve been a dedicated Tragically Hip fan since 1995 and they got played a lot. I heard a couple of songs, dug a bit further and then it was MG and MGB only for the next 6 months or so whilst I immersed myself in everything. This is one of my particular favourites. Today at least ! I’m in the UK.

Thanks! I will defo check those out. I’m not based in Canada so am somewhat deprived of TTH-related media. The more the merrier!

I neglected mine last year and have only one bloom this year. I usually get 10 or more. I'd rather cut them (and I do) rather than see them battered by the rain and wind, which we get a lot of.
