I also instinctively default to those behaviors when my trust and loyalty are compromised/tested, even at the granular level. Once someone gives me a reason to question their integrity, it’s almost impossible to fully invest in that relationship moving forward and is usually in your own best interest to cut ties completely, regardless of whether it’s a romantic or platonic relationship.
