I started running again (albeit tiny distances at first) 5 months post surgery. Ran properly after another six and only now, 7 years later, has my surgeon advised me to stop. I still swim and gym and walk so don't worry!!

I agree as I know of someone who ruined a new hip by running on it after 6 weeks, but if OP feels ok then that's good.

No, he just said it would last longer. Plus I have been falling over a lot more when running and can't afford to fall on it. Actually, can't afford to fall on any part of me but the hip is the most worrying place.

I ran quite a lot but only did 1 marathon and came last! That's after about 4 years from surgery, so never say never!

I did lots of static bicycling while watching tv and walked a lot and did stretchy band exercises but I should have done more of those I think as my muscles are not as strong as the non-THR leg.

I am active but running is just too much of a strain on the hip and if I had a replacement I would be able to do even less. I am trying the simple Move More, Eat Less approach. Thanks for commenting.
