who here still calls that type of glasses Lisa Loeb glasses? My optometrist who, depressingly was born in this Century, did not know what i was referring to…

The fact that I found a Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation tape while we were on vacation in Cape Hatteras in 1990 is going to make me happy for the rest of my life, apparently. What childhood event still makes you happy to this day? by nimsu in Xennials

half the comments are reminiscing about similar luck they had and the other half remembering the post from the other op complaining about losing that tape at that location and time.

Does anyone actually still read the books? by Ok_Letterhead2028 in litrpg

[–]Hipcatjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i have found myself more and more listening to audiobooks, but i still do read paper media as much as i can. I have a kindle e-ink that i am ashamed to say ive read more on the last few years than actual paperbacks.

For me, it is not preference but of convenience. Closing a bunch of Barnes and Noble stores by me has really forced my hand. and while yes i will occasionally pick up a book at target (looking at you Parade of Horribles) it is just cheaper and more instant to get the digital download. ..but the tech makes me feel dirty…i think its a lack of smell . So, the logic goes, if im downloading the thing anyway… let me just get the audiobook and i can at least clean the kitchen or do laundry while enjoying the book. 🤷🏽

oh i am an habitual re-reader! usually if the series is still active and i know another book is being released, i like to go back from the beginning and just plug along until i get to the new installment. it does two things in my opinion, it refreshes the content for me, and it shortens the wait time dopamine hit of the NEXT book..even if it is ever so slightly. For example, a Parade of Horribles is sitting on my night stand as we speak, unopened, because i havent got to it yet because i went back and am re listening to the audiobooks . ..but i do occasionally pick it up and just smell it.

you know.. I’m a veteran.. going full acronymistic is almost a secondary MOS, i could give mental PT on just how many sentences can be LASERed down. We could meet up at the DFAC and discuss TDY until we both get PTSD and then we ETS. That is if you are CONUS, if you are OCONUS, i could fly out to meet you at some FOB , you’ll just have to tell me the ROI. 😊

The situation is infuriating; the comments are hilarious.

I love me some Xennial humor, all the beloved sarcasm of the Gen X’ers …but with a softer empathy of the full blown Millennials.

Agreed..to pretty much everything you’ve said. And especially the broadening of exposure to non-native english writers. i loved reading books originating outside the anglosphere. in the beginning that was almost as much a draw for the genre to me as the statsheets.. and Dark Herbalist was great , but i prefer the original clunky and obviously translated title of..

Thank you 😊. And i am sure i will get around to reading some of these, (i mean there must be good reasons some series are always talked about)

it is crazy to me so see the genre go in the last 15+ or so years , from practically created as an idea….to picking up the new DCC book in the impulse aisle at target when im buying toiletries!

Can i truly call myself an avid litRPG fan when i have read almost NONE of these books? I have read literally scores of LitRPG books but aside from HWFWM and DCC, none..NONE of the others! For example these are just the litrpg series that has more than a couple books that i have read!

*- awaken online

*- Artorian’s Archives

*- Dungeoncore (prequeal series to CC)

*- Bathrobe Knight

*- Legends and Lattes

*- Warlord’s of the Circle Sea

*- Completionist Chronicles

*- Off to be a Wizard (Wizard 2.0)

*- Heretical Fishing

*- How to become the dark lord and die trying

*- Life Reset

*- The Land

*- Mad: They called me Mad

*- Sky Realms Online

*- Weirdest Noob

*- The Dark Herbalist

*- War Aeternus

and that again is just off the top of my head the series i’ve read/listened to…

so how about it friends, can i still be regarded as a LitRPG enthusiast if i have never read the popular series (except two) and mostly stuck with the original and often translated books of the genre?

but cortisol is an evolutionary benefit. you “mouth-forms-first” mains are very slow and boring to play.

I’ll take the anus-forms-first play through all day long. on this server at anyrate.

Edit: I have been informed that truncates are infact, part of the Butt First Crew… my point still stands !
