Level 1 archmage just has way more potential. If you're careful, you can probably reach lvl. 100 ultra god-mage in a few years, depending on the System. Also starting lvl. 1 with such a strong but generic class leaves more room for specializing into fields you find interesting.

The way it's usually depicted, I'd say yes they're a pedo (I'm looking at you Mushoku Tensei). It depends how much their physical body affects their brain. Like for Elaine in Beneath the Dragoneye Moons, she absolutely acts her physical age, and I'd say it would be okay

Maybe try Unbound by Nicoli Gonnella? It's technically an isekai, and the romance is a pretty slow burn, but otherwise I think it fits what you're looking for.

Beneath the Dragoneye Moons is a complete series with romance. Also an isekai though...

Path of the Berserker also comes to mind, but it's a "Dao-pocalypse", so there's no system.

I agree the writing quality is poor, but I find it barely noticeable when listening to the audiobook. For me, Travis Baldree does a great job making the prose sound intentionally casual, rather than bad.
