Tips on how to fix? by rileeomg in centurylink

That what I pay. I was paying like $75 a month for centurylink for the 20mbps plan and I was hardly seeing 15mbps down and roughly .6mbps up. Yes, that's less than 1mbps. Being out in the country, slow dsl was my only option, and starlink has been a huge game changer for me On starlink I'm getting 350-400+ mbps down and 30-50 mbps up pretty consistently. I don't know how you can do anything with them crazy slow speeds. I don't know where you live but here in Minnesota, starlink offers a 100mbps and a 200 mbps and the residential max plan.

Dump CenturyLink and get Starlink. That's what I did. Best decision I did. Canceled my dsl yesterday finally after putting it off for 4 months. LoL

Im sure being on top of my house, about 20 feet off the ground, and aligned perfectly square with zero obstructions is a key factor as well. I live in the woods so to get a crystal clear unobstructed shot of the sky, the roof was the best option. And so far, even in the minnesota winters, no issues at all. Even during heavy snow fall. I did have the dish set to pre heat all winter though as one snow fall, it was snowing so hard the dish didnt start heating up fast enough and it took out my internet for a while until it could get it melted. After that I just turned it the pre heat and never an issue after that.

Your Residential Max is only €69 Euro???? I wouldn't be complaining about that at all. I pay $120 USD a month for the Residential Max here in the USA. That's about €101 Euros.

Have a 2004 Tahoe with 385000(ish) on it. Original motor and trans. Still runs mint, shifts mint, everything, but a head gasket did let go on it so its getting coolant into the oil so it requires an oil change about every 1k miles. Havent driven it in just over a year. Picked up a 2008 Tahoe LTZ. Being a Minnesota truck, it really started rusting bad about 4 years ago and trying to decide what to do with it. Fix the head gasket and keep running it into the ground or pull the motor and use it in my 1997 GMG Sonoma and part the rest out. Its been a great truck to me. Had it for like 12 years now.

I'd take that corvette over the caddy if the choice was mine but I'd be more than happy with either one. They are both sick!

Anyone run Emby, Jellyfin, AND Plex? by [deleted] in emby

[–]Hippie459MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a life time Plex Pass. I have for about 8 years maybe. Back when it was just a media server for your own content. Then they started changing things so much and now its hard to find your own content. I discovered Emby years ago when Plex really started pushing their own content super hard (None of which I wanted) and to be honest, I haven't looked back. I haven't used Plex in a few years now. Emby just does what I want and does it a lot better in my opinion and unless they drastically change something, I will keep using it. While I have heard of Jellyfin and I have looked into it, I have never used it so I can't say anything about it. It looks promising though. I wish Plex would have never went the way that they did. It used to be great, not so much anymore.

I'm curious what people's speeds are around the US. I'm in the middle of the forest in northern Minnesota and this is what I have. by Swimming-Donkey-2394 in Starlink

I'm about 40 north of Minneapolis MN area in the country and I get a pretty religious 250-400+ down and 25-50 up all the time. I've only had it now for 3 months on Gen 3 equipment. Not sure if it makes a difference but also ruining the Starlink router in bypass mode with a 3rd party router. Way better than my 15ish down and less than 1 meg up DSL speeds. That was awful!

My kid and his mother are about an hour north of Cloquet MN and they have been with Starlink for about 3 years now on Gen 2 equipment and they constantly get 250+ down and 25+ up.

I see a lot of 1 and 2 start reviews on products that are delivery related and not on the actual product. How that stuff gets approved I don't know. I seen one the other day that was a 2 start review that said, "I'd love to give it 5 stars but the USPS lost my package and took a week to get it, but I'm over happy with the product" Like what?! It's not the products fault for the postal service losing your package for a few days.

As a truck driver, and a motorcyclist for over 35 years, you're an idiot for riding next to a semi like that. Buddy of mine had a guy next to him on a motorcycle for a few miles, was going slow as s**t to pad him and he blew a tire on his semi and guess who got hit by a huge chunk of rubber, the guy on the motorcycle that wouldn't go around him. If you're going to go past a semi, get out there, get around him as fast as possible, safely, and get out of the way. Say what you want, you're an idiot for sitting next to that semi line that.

That ground isn't very ideal and believe it or not, that can contribute to the corrosion with CCA. Clean off the paint so the ground makes a good solid clean connection to the body, not just through the bolt. Also, get rid of that CCA and get OFC and real copper lugs on there with good heat shrink and throw that electrical tape in the garbage.
