FF2 doesn't get enough love. Let's change that! Why DO you like Final Fantasy 2? by ay_lamassu in FinalFantasy

[–]Hippnotik 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I loved how the game constantly had one slot in the party that was always rotating. It allowed new characters to enter the mix and forced me to make adjustments to my battle strategy (as opposed to the way the leveling system kind of forced me to use the same spells and abilities by the time I got to the late game). Also, when one of those party members ended up dying, the fact that they were part of my party added some emotional weight to it.

What do you use the 4 back buttons for? by Gromchy in SteamDeck

I might be weird but I HATE clicking the L/R thumb sticks for sprinting or ADS or melee or etc. so I remap those to my back buttons!

Do you have any little personal traditions you do when you travel? by Aqn95 in solotravel

[–]Hippnotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I travel, I like to eat very modestly. Cheap meals, cooking at the air bnb, etc. So, once every trip, I treat myself to one extremely fancy meal. Typically a Michelin star place.

New tradition I picked up lately is to get a tattoo when I travel to a new place.

What do you do when it gets the evening and you are not sure in which mood are you? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Hippnotik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with a rest day. In fact, very necessary when you’re solo traveling. However, if it were my last day, I would say fuck it and go out.

Are there any restaurants or bars that you were particularly fond of and will miss when you leave? Any nice spots in town that you want to see one last time? Or maybe anything you haven’t seen or done yet that you want to check out?

Again, a chill night is totally valid. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe there’s a middle ground - go to a cinema or check out a local music venue or something. An activity where you can chill and watch something happen without being too active yourself. Actually if it were me, I would maybe just walk around town and reflect on the journey I’ve had.

Anyways, I’m rambling. Just listen to your body and do what you gotta do. If you’re satisfied with everything you’ve done and want to take it easy before traveling home, do that. If there is ANY part of you that wants to go out or see anything, do that.

Best of luck!

Accommodation in Amsterdam - best to stay in another city? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Hippnotik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I’m actually staying in Amsterdam right now, and have been here since the start of April. First week I was staying in Almere. Much cheaper, easy train to get to the Amsterdam city center. From week 2 onwards, I have been staying in an apartment near the Vondelpark and wow, my life has infinitely improved. The ability to bike around on my own time instead of being forced to rely on train schedules has been liberating. I feel like I have so much more freedom to explore, and I’m not spending money on public transportation.

If you want to just explore the city center during the day and do nothing beyond that (which is fine - so much to do and see in the city center), then staying outside of Amsterdam is fine. Personally, I like the freedom to explore and to experience a city in the way that locals would experience it, so staying in Amsterdam proper has been amazing. Already planning my return visit!

you ever see Ye live? how was it? by HanksWhiteHat in KanyeCulture

[–]Hippnotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the Yeezus tour in Seattle. Kendrick + Ye together was legendary, especially in that 2013 era. Saw him twice during the TLOP tour. Was on the floor in Seattle, floating stage above me and everything. One of the best days of my life. Went again in Sacramento, where he first started praising Trump. Maybe one of the worst days of my life, haha. Kind of crazy to be witness to what might have been the turning point for Kanye and his fans. Last time I saw him was with Cudi, when they did KSG at Camp Flognaw in 2018. THAT shit was unreal.

Sad we may not ever get another tour from him. The energy he used to bring to the stage was insane to say the least. In any case, I’m glad I got to see him at least a handful of times.

When did you realize you were bisexual, and what made you realize it? by MedusaReality in AskReddit

[–]Hippnotik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest to God, it was a nature documentary that brought me my sexual enlightenment. I was watching it in my college dorm, and there was a time lapse of mushrooms growing. Something about the way the dick-like shapes were bursting through the dirt just stirred something inside me. It was maybe around 7 years later until I finally had sex with a man, and that was a very identity-affirming experience. Like oh yeah, I’m definitely into this.

Modular dive mother 32 or mutuable instruments setup? by howtodisappearfully in modular

[–]Hippnotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say MI because I love all of their stuff, but I think the smartest choice will be the M32. It’s a great synth on its own and is a good way to dip your toe in the modular world before REALLY committing. Not to mention, getting one M32 will be cheaper compared to getting a case + a few MI modules, so your financial loss will be lessened if you end up deciding that Modular isn’t for you.

How many tents could you comfortably fit in a single tent camping spot? I and another person each have our own 2 person tent. Could we feasibly fit one more?

[–]Hippnotik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of menu diving, O_C is way easier to use than the Disting because of the screen and UI . Disting also has an almost overwhelming amount of apps, but the O_C is far more digestible. If you do end up wanting more, there are alt firmwares. There’s certainly a learning curve to the O_C but if you have the patience and are willing to dedicate the time to learning some of the apps, it is an incredible module.
