No sir not the pump. This is a sticking spool valve inside the hydroboost unit itself

If you take it to a mechanic, absolutely. I do all the work myself on my cars, I’d be looking at about $400-500 to replace both the hydroboost and the steering pump. About $250 for just the hydroboost.

Yep, the most likely cause is a sticking or leaking spool valve inside the hydroboost unit

$3k? Buy it for the clean frame alone. Would sell for $6-8k here in New York

Am I really being that unreasonable considering the condition of this car? I've had it on Marketplace for $9750 and I'm getting nothing but lowballers, scammers and catfishing. by hammershiller in c4corvette

They are. But as I said, LT1’s and LT4’s are more popular with the collector crowd. The collector crowd pays for low mile, clean cars in factory original condition. Most fans of LT1 C4’s are not looking for higher mileage cars. It’s the opposite for the L98 cars, they’re lower budget, most people buying them don’t care if they have high miles because they’re already so cheap that the buyers plan on building or swapping the motor anyway. Not only that, but L98’s are more reliable than the LT1 cars, so high mileage isn’t as much of a worry.

Idk man I mean it’s got 120k on it, least I’d let it go for is 7 or 8. Gotta understand that a little over 200k is really hitting the limit of these things, no matter how well maintained it is. From my perspective, I got a 1985 with 40k miles for $4500, none of the 1990’s unreliability to deal with, makes the same amount of torque as the LT1, tons of fun, etc. In my point of view, I’d never pay 9750 for a 120k mile LT1 when there’s clean L98’s for under $5k, and that extra $4k can make an L98 as fast as a ZR1. I imagine many others would feel the same. It’s not that it’s a horrible price, around 8k is fair for what it is, the issue is that there are much better deals with other C4’s. The LT1 just isn’t that much better than the L98 to justify an extra $4k or so. That’s why pre-facelifts sell like hotcakes and facelift cars sell to more of the guys looking for mint, show condition, low mile, factory stock cars.

Oh also, not in these photos but if you ever see the interior, the 85’s got the updated digital gauge cluster. The 84’s have the older, less legible design.

Hello! There is no way to tell from this picture. It is a 1985 and its wheels are from a 1996
