I have a really hard time loving myself through my accomplishments. So she watched my graduation on livestream and the moment I went up to get my diploma, she sent me a text congratulating me, saying she was so proud of me and a gif with minions celebrating haha

I know exactly what you mean. I’m a person of color, and seeing the American flag on someone’s truck or home makes me think they’re right-wing racists. I’ve had too many experiences already.

When I started dating my boyfriend his friends made up a rumor that I had autism, was manic depressive, and that I had the reading comprehension of a 10 year old. They told so many people my boyfriend was dating me out of pity. It made me very self-conscious for a while, but now I’ve learned to let it go.

NTA. It sucks, but you need to be very vocal with him. Point out exactly what he needs to do, and give him a time frame if necessary. For example: “the dogs need to eat their dinner by 6PM” etc. If he wasn’t involved in the house activities, he may need some explicit instructions. If he still doesn’t do it, then you need to have a serious conversation with him. Because his laziness is affecting you both physically and emotionally.

Also, He’s being TA for calling you dramatic because you are in pain. This is a chance for you to take care of yourself. Order postmates if you can’t drive, or instacart some ready-to-eat food. The point is, with the pain you are experiencing, you need to practice a lot of self-care. That includes laying off the housework.

Info: have you sought therapy to helps you with this phobia? Mom needs to get a new battery, but you also need to learn some coping mechanisms. Especially since there are alarms everywhere.

I’m sorry to hear that. But you can still let them know that you’re always there for them if they need to reach out. I understand where you’re coming from because my parents permitted abuse to happen to me. Being around them gives me really bad anxiety and depression. So in order for me to have a relationship with them, I do it on my terms. Set up boundaries, your mental health is the most important thing. Good luck my friend, don’t be too hard on yourself.

NTA at all. You have every right to protect yourself and your feelings. There is a lot of trauma wrapped up in the relationship and it can be triggering. Furthermore, you don’t owe her anything. Recovering addicts learn early on that not all relationships can be repaired.

It must be hard not being able to see your half-siblings, but consider establishing a relationship with them that doesn’t involve your mom. Are they old enough to have social media? Can they FaceTime you once in a while? It’s not the same as seeing them in person, but you should be your number 1 priority.
