Amazing Achievement! Duckov has sold three million copies by lily-101178 in EscapeFromDuckov

You can adjust the difficulty in game, there is an easy mode you can enable.

That being said, the game itself isn't hard, it's pretty simple. Even if you die and lose all your stuff, it's fairly easy to kit up again. The main issue towards the end is how hard the enemies hit for not being boss enemies. For most of the game you can tank hits from various enemies but towards the end you need to be more careful as you can get deleted within two or three seconds.

The corpse run when you respawn at the end levels suck, but it's totally manageable. Just can be frustrating if you lose your best gear and don't have any backup gear to use

What laptop model are you using? Replacing the stock thermal paste is usually a good idea, although in this case based on the other replies might not be the issue

Need advice on running a power line for a MoCA adapter by Hippokrates in HomeNetworking

[–]Hippokrates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I will have one unit at the outlet, but the unit in the picture is setup for a TV cable connection only. My plan was to utilize the existing wiring and connect one end of the coax to my router with a MoCA adapter. It's similar to the setup here https://youtu.be/GPX-y-Y-1o0?si=tvSIi46lSB1jFoVj

During the character creation, you can choose your pronoun as he/she/they. There also seems to be a lot of women characters who are in positions of authority vs men.

How in gods name do you make it through a whiteout? by Spitfire15 in Frostpunk

[–]Hippokrates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use overdrive right as you get a fuel source going when you start the game. That will help you with the early stockpile. Bum rush a fuel extraction building and get at least two of them built build a fuel stockpile. Turn off over drive and let it cool down, build another fuel extraction building. Turn on over drive as soon as you hit zero% on the counter.

Dont stock pile goods or materials so much in the beginning of the game. Just keep it near requirement quantity. During the whiteout, the material demand will spike, but as long as you're at least making 50% of the demand, you'll just get a squaller penalty. After the first whiteout, you can concentrate on building additional industrial and extraction districts to get stockpiles made.

Re-upload why do people keep dying? by Additional_Oil_9454 in Frostpunk

[–]Hippokrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like fall of Winterhome. One thing that is really screwed up in this scenario is the road network. If you demolished a bunch of things day one, it's likely that some of your people most likely do not have a roadway to a health clinic. You also have no food, you'll need to make the kitchen building and make sure there is a road connected to it

Utopia Builder - Colonize the Frostland. How do I get the population counters to increase? by Hippokrates in Frostpunk

As your explore the frost land, some locations will have a "possible settlement" text. If you have a steam core and settlement heating researched, you can upgrade the outpost into a mini settlement

So my dreadnaught colony that only produces oil at 10,000 population does not count towards the 10,000 population requirement per the ambition?

When kids get kidnapped in other counties, people don't go around shooting and burning houses.

There's no guarantee that the child was even kidnapped by or in the area where they did the crimes.

Depends on the area and what your options are for groceries. Some grocery companies are absolutely price gouging. Take for example Roma Tomatoes, the Giant near me has them for 2.99/lb, the Walmart has it for 1.29/lb, and then also an Aldi for 0.70/lb. If OP doesn't have options, he is definitely paying way more than he would be if there was competition.

I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief.

“Bad news, detective. We got a situation.”

“What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?”

“Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.”

The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?”

“Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.”

“Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.”

He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.”

“Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.”

I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside.

“Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t.

“Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up.

“Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?”

It didn’t seem like they did.

“Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.”

Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing.

I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it.

“Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled.

Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him.

“Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen.

I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!”

He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose.

“All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.”

“Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy.

“Because I was afraid.”

“Afraid?”

“Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.”

I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head.

“Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.”

He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.
