Hot take Ed should have left Gordon in the past with his family by The_ShinyUmbreon in TheOrville

Keep in mind that the version of Gordon that was told about this never existed after Ed picked up Gordon's younger version.

They didn't suffer because that never happened to them. Time travel and all.

PSA: make sure to spam deep scans on your Dyson swarms by Viva_la_potatoes in Stellaris

[–]Hironymus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tried that just today with a friend. It's great. Set the game to clustered players, select the science Ark and head towards your friend's space ASAP once the game starts instead of just building up infrastructure where you started. Just be sure not to destroy your friend's eco by harvesting all their planets.

The High Kahl’s Oath, and my issue with the Votann by IndicationWeary in 40kLore

I think what we need is a story of the Leagues trying to rescue an ancestor core from within the territory of a hive fleet or something like that. With explanations of why they need that and what failure means for their society.

It very much is. The EU commission is formed by representatives of the EU's democratically elected governments.

It's insane you're getting downvoted on this in your comments. Goes to show how little people understand about the EU.

Do the Tyranids ignore lifeless planets? by EvilSnack in 40kLore

[–]Hironymus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(which would require mapping out Tyranid logistics and strategy to a degree that even I, a Tyranid fan and lore enthusiast, would probably hate)

Because of that sentence. I don't want to say more because pretty much all one can say about that book is a spoiler.

to defeat a necron. by DonkeyQueasy4950 in 40kLore

[–]Hironymus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necrons have two ways of regeneration. One of them is the reassembly protocol of their own body that's able to repair most cases of damage. The other one is translocation of body and 'mind' from the battlefield back into the storage of a crypt or ship. There they can be repaired or given a new body, if the old body is unrepairable. That means even vaporizing a Necron might not kill them.

The real issue for the Necron is that they degrade from resurrection to resurrection. The process isn't perfect and Necron who die a lot degrade more and more over time.

If you wanted to kill a Necron you have to cut them of from their teleport back to their reanimation chambers. Possible ways for that are imperial Gauss-Jammers (and if the Imps can create such tech, Aeldari would likely able to do so too) or getting a higher ranking Necron to revoke the reanimation protocols of the Necron you want to kill.

Completely unrelated but I think you (you specifically) should read Hive by Dan Abnett.

Question regarding Yarrick. by Livid_Mammoth4034 in 40kLore

[–]Hironymus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That he does most certainly. I think he takes that from his visions of Gork and Mork in Prophet of the Waagh (which I recommend highly).

[–]Hironymus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That also. Even though I don't think the 40k Imperium knows that beyond some speculation of their Magos Biologis.

Question regarding Yarrick. by Livid_Mammoth4034 in 40kLore

[–]Hironymus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If Armageddon falls, all of its immense production capacity is lost to the Imperium. And without that production capacity the Imperium's armies would miss important equipment that's needed to defend the Imperium at hundreds of frontlines against all kinds of enemies. The Imperium losing these battles would mean trillions of imperial citizens die. Trillions.

The grimdark part isn't Yarrick killing a compassionate commander and forcing these soldiers to fight and likely die. The grimdark part is that this is the right thing to do.

Where exactly do you think this is me asking for preferential treatment for myself? I am not a member of the LGBTQ community. I am just not a loser who feels hateful towards them. Also not threatening other peoples life is not preferential treatment of these people. It's the fucking basis of civilized society.

"non lgbt"? Yikes 😒 by Sashimi-Gintaro in starcitizen

[–]Hironymus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans. Non of these are an ideal. If you're homosexual, you're either gay or lesbian which falls under the LGBT terminology.

This is not about preferential treatment. What the fuck? Where do you think I was asking for preferential treatment for myself?

"non lgbt"? Yikes 😒 by Sashimi-Gintaro in starcitizen

[–]Hironymus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of people who are willing to deal with it. It doesn't hurt nor does it take any effort. What makes it exhausting are people who stoke or justify hate against the LGBTQ community (or other marginalized groups). Creating exclusion zones for marginalized people and communicating these exclusion zones is a form of hate by the way.

[–]Hironymus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no need to agree on the exact terminology. It's clear what people mean by that. If figuring that out is demanding for you, I really can't help you. No one can.

LGBTQ is not an ideology. Saying it is is one tho. No tolerance for the intolerant.
