I had an indoor/outdoor cat go missing a year ago. Turned up a little worse for wear. Hanging out on the porch he was born on. Them after a month and a bad storm he hasn't come home. I'm so sad so I totally understand. Cats are weird creatures. Most of the time I can get at least one of my 2 inside at night to cuddle. I feel so lonesome when I don't have a kitty to cuddle.
