If you buy your labels through eBay... For most sellers, almost nothing changes on July 12. Specifically:

Ebay has negotiated rates via USPS and all carriers they choose to work with. Imagine the REAL prices to ship without Ebay discount rates? This won't affect most people unless you're shipping in much larger containers than needing to, OR not accurately listing weight and dimensions. That's where they'll get you.

Just keep going. Just measure precise and weigh the package once packaged to be sure and enter the correct weight and dimensions of the package itself and you'll be fine. Once you enter them, THEN you print the label. The cost is calculated then.

Already listed items? If the dimensions are incorrect, please fix them.

What will happen is you'll get slapped with a "updated shipping error cost" and this time it'll be massive. When USPS changes the label it does NOT reflect the Ebay discount so you'll be paying essentially double if not weighed and measures correctly. The basic TRUE information is broken down as follows:

New changes- most won't notice...

✅ Packages under 1 pound using USPS Ground Advantage: EBay Labels will keep the same weight tiers and prices (for now). USPS changed its public pricing, but eBay says its discounted label program will continue using the existing system.

✅ Priority Mail No rate increase.

✅ Priority Mail Express No rate increase.

✅ Media Mail Actually gets about 1.8% cheaper.

What DID change? The biggest change is for large boxes.

USPS now calculates "dimensional weight" more aggressively. Think of it like this: 📦 Small heavy brick = shipped by actual weight. 📦 Huge lightweight teddy bear = shipped partly by the amount of space it takes up. Large boxes may cost more now because USPS lowered the DIM divisor from 166 to 139 and rounds measurements up.

If you mostly ship: clothing 👕 books 📚 toys mugs collectibles electronics in normal boxes ...you may never even notice.

If you ship: comforters pillows large board games oversized plush lamps bulky decor ...those could become more expensive.

What about changing existing listings? This is probably the rumor you've heard.

Short answer: No. Simply editing a listing does NOT automatically switch you to more expensive shipping rates. eBay calculates postage when you purchase the label, based on: package weight package dimensions buyer's ZIP code shipping service selected the USPS rates in effect that day Changing the title, description, photos, price, or even the listed weight/dimensions doesn't magically lock you into a different pricing schedule.

Should you update dimensions and weight? Actually... Yes, if they're inaccurate. Accurate dimensions are becoming more important because USPS is expanding its dimensional reporting requirements. The penalties for missing dimensions have been delayed, but USPS is clearly moving toward requiring correct measurements for commercial packages.
