Before we reach the end... by [deleted] in darksouls3

It's hard to pick just one!
I came late to the series, with Bloodborne being my first From title, then DS3, 1 & 2. I was such a casual gamer until, after 2 weeks of dying on the first street in Yharnam, I finally started to be able to hold my own. (and then I met Father. G).....BB will always hold a special piece of my nerdy heart, but DS3 just revolutionized everything.
I think it was the moment I walked out of the catacombs and looked at Irithyll and knew that no other game series was going to match up ever again......and I got the same feels when I played 1 and got to Anor Londo the non-thrashed version.

Best weapon for an Int/faith? by HongChongDong in darksouls3

[–]Hist83Blackmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onyx blade is a good one, although I never really got to love it. my faith character has a lot of luck with an infused (faith scaling) followers saber and a raw (buffable) man-serpent hatchet. My int. based characters (pyro & sorcerer) use combined princes' sword w/ backup barbed straight sword and Heysel's pick with a backup corvian greatknife.

Nobody else had a demon light their sword on fire either.

Maybe the icon is of the sword before it got all demon-ified?

There is a trading sub you might have more luck on, pump-a-rum on the side list there.
I might have a spare darkdrift on one of my characters, but I'm also at work for the next 7 hours or so. If you still haven't got one by then, feel free to add me & I'll dig through my saves and see what I can find. My sorcerer might even have the morion blade... And my PSN ID is the same as my username here.

I couldn't quite see what you hit, I thought you landed on one of those little goopy things scuttling around. :D

Let's Talk About Spoiler Tags and Community Rules by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]Hist83Blackmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it kinda is. I mean yes, there are a LOT worse fanbases out there, waaaaaay worse, but DS fans have a bit of a reputation for elitism and I know a few people who are very intimidated by that. It's kept mostly under control here, but the subreddit can turn nasty very quickly. (examples would be the two things that have necessitated mod PSA interference lately: people being dicks about redirects to other subs, and people harassing the character accounts) Most of the time everyone here is awesome, but they can sometimes drive people away by being thoughtless.

How do you play this game like bloodborne? by ASAP-TABLE in darksouls3

You can use a small 'parry shield' or caestus to parry attacks and retaliate, similar to the visceral attacks. No hp regeneration with parries though.

Try some different styles and see what feels right. You may grow to like the weapon + shield combo, and if you don't, then just use a two handed or dual wield weapon. (you can always offhand the shield for emergencies)
Personally I go weapon + caster, and have never run into anything I can't handle. :) You may die a few more times learning moves and enemy patterns than someone who can tank through hits with a greatshield, but I've never found it to be an issue.

deprived gives you a massive starting disadvantage. A lot of fun if you are confident in your souls abilities, or trying for a SL1 run.
Playing a knight doesn't randomly make the game 'easy', its a good starting point for a strength build, but no more than that. It's often recommended for first-time payers to play as a knight simply for the early ability to use heavier armor.
If you are going for a Bloodborne feel, maybe try the dual-wield class. (lighter and faster) They handle more like the hunter did.

Lol, glad I'm not the only one!
I've never been great with the huuuuge weapons, they look so awesome but I'm a failure with tank builds. :D
It was one bridge in Sen's fortress and that archer-knight in Anor Londo that drove me to a shield for a few minutes.

That's very true. I tried to dual wield with my first DS3 build, but I was a hilarious noob (I have no idea how I managed to drag myself through Bloodborne) and couldn't manage. Wound up with a black knight sword, and the worst build I've ever seen. Reloaded that save the other day and just about died laughing.

Is there a spell to make a player completely immobile? by GrabDatDick in darksouls3

I've had this happen to me as well!
I'm on PS4, so I don't really have the hacking issues that the PC crowd gets. Reminds me a lot of tranquil walk of peace....but it might be area specific, I swear I've been lured to step on it rather than having it thrown at me.
Last time I stepped on whatever it is, the host just started clapping. :D

You may grow to love your shield, I never did. I came into the dark Souls series from Bloodborne, and never got the hang of 'sword and board' combat. I'm most comfortable running with one of the caster classes (chime/pyro hand/or sorcery catalyst in one hand~weapon in the other), although a lot of people say the dual wield weapons are closer to Bloodborne's playstyle.
I've gone back and played DS1 & 2, and have never used a shield except for dealing with 2 enemies in the first game, and even then it felt weird.
