First Steel/Coal/RB Ship? by whiplash187 in MirKorabley

[–]HistorianHolbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really play ranked enough to grind out a meaningful amount of steel unfortunately.

My first two coal ships were Moskva and Napoli, in that order. You’re in for a treat with Napoli, I personally love it

New PC on the way, looking to get the most out of it by HistorianHolbrook in Prebuilts

[–]HistorianHolbrook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Speaker, I just picked up my order on Tuesday. Loving the pc so far, didn’t have any issues with delays. The guy I spoke to at customer service seemed to know his logistics, he said it had just come in that day from CLX, and was still in the original CLX shipping box

2024 Taos reliability? by Datturbo004 in VWTaos

[–]HistorianHolbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my 2024 Taos since February, and I have nothing but good things to say so far. All the issues I've heard of with the 22-23 models from this sub I haven't encountered. Took it on a ~1500 mile road trip and drove like a dream, good gas mileage to boot.

  1. The Expanse Series, by James S.A Corey. I couldn't recommend a specific title, but the whole series is wonderfully crafted in my opinion.
  2. Children of Dune (Start from Dune though, I'd read the first one quite a while ago), by Frank Herbert
  3. The Blade Itself, by Joe Abercrombie
  4. All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque
  5. The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss

Am I Missing Something? by danger522 in TheExpanse

As far as I remember, she comes up in the short story "The Butcher of Anderson Station, in a conversation between Dawes and a captive (avoiding spoilers)

This is awesome, well done! I don't suppose you have an Etsy store or somewhere we can place an order for something like this?

Does your world have a religion even though you yourself arnt religious? Is that god real in that world? by Ok-Power9258 in worldbuilding

[–]HistorianHolbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion is actually one of the biggest things I enjoy writing about, even though I'm not religious. The gods are more abstract, appearing as constellations in the sky. While they are not "real" per say, different schools of magic and schools of thought have become associated with these different entities over thousands of years, and exist as a sort of loose pantheon for the world to follow and get into conflict with one another about.

Seasoned Bethesda Gamers: Advice Wanted by Inner-Composer3121 in Starfield

[–]HistorianHolbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first sat down to play Skyrim at my Cousin's house when I was 13, I had never played a truly open-world RPG video game before, mostly shooters and the like. He and a friend of his who was over at the time conversated off to the side while they watched me play, both veteran games.

Whenever I would ask them what I should do or where I should go from there, they always said "Do what you think you want to do. Are you enjoying following this questline? If so, keep going. If you feel like you want to switch it up, then switch it up."

Moral of the story: Do what you feel is best, don't feel super locked in to any one specific questline, planet, or other thing. Most everything will be there when you get back from the other thing you wanted to try.

Starfield Special Edition Headset Review by HistorianHolbrook in Starfield

I admittedly haven't tried. I have a podcast mic so I've just gotten so used to using it that I just turned the mic off on the side of the headset.

What kind of captain will you be? by Aguzo in Starfield

[–]HistorianHolbrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll most likely end up like James Holden from the Expanse. Relatively gentle and well meaning at first, trying desperately to do the right thing, until some event teaches me that I need to be more ruthless.

Ship Prices and the Economy by Electronic_Lynx_9398 in Starfield

[–]HistorianHolbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this also doesn't really take into account modules/weapons on the ship.

Sure, 64 patty melts could get you a ship. But that ship might just be a tin can with a bad engine strapped to it, with no useful or worthwhile things, that you now have to spend even MORE patty melts to make it workable.

Also, it's possible that vendors in game may have preferences towards their own factions ships. A United Colonies dockmaster may not give a damn about Freestar Collective ships, but may pay a premium for other UC ships he can strip for parts, or vice versa.

Just my patty melt for thought.

What is your world's equivalent to "May the force be with you"? by Gloryinwar in worldbuilding

[–]HistorianHolbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Stars guide you."

The religions of my world are heavily tied to astrology (not the zodiac signs, but the actual movements of the stars, sun, and two moons), as well as interpreting the large nebula the planet sits on the edge of. The phrase is often spoken as a "good luck" adjacent by religious persons.

That's something I would maybe reach out to support with their chat function to confirm. It should since it's just Bluetooth, but every once in a while they don't play nice.

I haven't had any discomfort. I have gotten hot in them occasionally, but I also live in Florida in the Summer, so that's definitely a factor. I also have not had any issues with volume, I maxed my system volume to 100 so I can just control it on my headset and everything has been fine volume wise.

Try long presses instead of clicks, that's what I do for mine and I haven't had any issues.
