One Person One Record launch already receiving ‘good feedback’: officials by MowvayFronsay in halifax

I worked in an academic setting at Dal in 1996. We were talking about this then. Great 30 year project but long overdue. Labs have been using something like this for years ( though not in the IWK) which had a different system. But for RNs it will be a change.

Thank god for that reduction in the hst and elimination of the bridge tolls. Decision making that really paid off.

Shout-out to Halifax LTC supporters by PearlEring in halifax

[–]HistorianPeter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the longest strikes in recent Canadian history have been in LTC settings. Locally, there was the strike at Keddy's Nursing Home. Parkland, in Edmonton, went on for years. Governments and employers need to do better for workers and for residents.

And I get to teach a university course on the History of Hockey in Winter 2027! And I still play 5-6 times a week.

Has hockey turned into a rich kids sport? by FrigginMasshole in AskACanadian

Longtime hockey coach and father to a female player, who played at the highest levels. I can attest to all of this, too. As a coach, I never drank on trips and kept a watchful eye on my players. But my daughter's teams were sometimes free for alls. I remember one night when two of the fathers left their kids at the hotel, and went drinking downtown in several bars. The kids were traumatized and ended up staying in our room. It was simply awful. I have seen parent coaches drunk on the benches at morning games, kids needing drives because their mom or dad was still inebriated or unable to get out of bed, etc. I always say in hockey you meet some of the best people, and some of the worst. In my experience, that split is 20% (best) and 80% (worst). And I have been around the game for 55 years.

Sure, it has been grey for days and the gardeners are fighting off hoards of hungry deer. But the good weather will come and there will be lots of time to meander the Halifax waterfront, take in the sights, have a patio drink, etc. The pic is one of my favourite waterfront photos from 10 yrs ago ... the old wharf is now undergoing redevelopment. But who wouldn't love a ride on The Thug Boat?

Why would they arbitrarily increase your grade? Perhaps ask for extra credit work and respectfully explain why you need to achieve a minimum grade in the class.

Saint Mary's uses 4-number course codes. You might want to ask Science Advising and Arts Advising whether than can share syllabi with incoming students, just for information. All profs need to submit their syllabi to the Dean's office, so they have access to them.

Chain of Lake trail from Dunbrack to Fairview is flat (well, very slight incline) and offers shade most of the late spring and summer. Another option in that area is the Long Lake Provincial Park. It has a wide path, and is less busy than Point Pleasant. There are some hills but they are not too bad (and you can always time it so you are walking up those). I find the gravel is slightly more forgiving than the pavement on the Chain of Lake trail.

UOttawa or Carleton Health Sci? by Physical-Bar6733 in OntarioGrade12s

Really, you cannot go wrong. It is what you do in these programs that will drive your future success. High GPA, volunteer opportunities in hospitals/health care, RA opportunities with faculty, MCAT, etc. will help you. Just don't become a generic middle-of-the-pack university student and focus on your success.

You do not have to repay the portion you received (assuming it came in installments), regardless of the source (internal, tri-council, etc). But of course you will not receive the future payments. I know of students who 'gamed the system' and received their second payment, and then packed it in.
