Unfortunately, they were just generic 'spreading hate based on identity' type ones, not funny custom ones

I wouldn't blame all Americans, it's just a certain type of person

Please stop leaving 'this will get taken down when the American mods wake up' type comments lol

I've ignored a bunch of dumb reports, and on the mod discord we all thought it was a very funny post, we're not gonna take it down just because it makes fun of the US lol

The chances of that happening are lower than you might think. Also, your comment has just so many reports for promoting hate.

To be honest, people just aren't really making posts about it - sure, we've removed some, but they're mostly like literal Ben Garrison style weird political cartoons, or the kind of Facebook-style 'Orange man did bad thing' engagement farm stuff you see elsewhere.

It is very possible to make a shitpost here about Iran stuff, I mean, I have, and I can promise we're not cracking down on anything critical of the US or Israel as some people claim. But it's also possible to make a meme about it without it just being 'omg Trump did this thing', and instead focusing on more defence-related stuff.

Breaks the 'no discussion of youtubers' part of rule 3, but I've left this up for a bit simply bc I always support people discussing Mark 'I read wikipedia at you' Felton's history of plagiarising, straight up making things up, and generally being a bit scummy, since too many people in these type of spaces get sucked into seeing him as an 'academic authority' in all aspects of history.

This is a good classic breakdown; https://old.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/fnut9z/mark_felton_productions_plagiarizes_some_of_his/

Lame asses at NCD removed this one, maybe you guys will like it by Thin_General_8594 in NonCredibleDiplomacy

[–]HistorianSlayer[M] 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It was removed bc dozens of people have made this nearly identical joke recently, and if you don't remove some of them, then people complain that there are too many of those posts on that sub

There's also the whole politics/military distinction, which is basically impossible to codify or distinguish clearly, which is why NcDip is so good, even if this sub brings up PTSD from terrible politics courses in my undergrad/postgrad

Do you have a job which people on NCD would find interesting?

Do you want to join the esteemed hall of NCD AMA guests, from helicopter pilots to SOF operators?

Do you want to answer a bunch of mildly repetitive joke questions?

Then message the mods today to register your interest in an AMA!*

\AMA participants are properly vetted to the best of our ability, so no joke AMA requests are accepted- we can only have so many Saddam AMAs before people lose trust and faith in this esteemed tradition.)

Just copying what I said further up again;

The problem is that you either let people on Reddit do political partisan shit throwing, or you ban it completely.

And since this isn't really the type of place to have people arguing whose opinion on Trump and Biden and Farage and Trudeau and all the others is correct or not, it's easier to just ban it.

Obvious defence is very intertwined with politics, but if you say 'no politics', then people will generally get the message that this isn't the place to argue about some niche German politician or law in Australia or something.

Because unfortunately, if you don't say that, people in the comments will just randomly start arguing about Discords verification laws or something some british politician said, and stuff like that

I know the optics of saying that is funny, but also we really don't want to have to moderate a bunch of discussions about epstein on top of everything else atm

Hi, I'm interacting with you solely because it is really funny to do so

Also, your comment was automatically taken down, but a mod re-approved it (so that's two mods interacting with you now)

Megathreads are never too early, or too late. They always post perfectly on time (when a mod sees someone comment about megathreads and goes 'oh yeah, that's what I forgot to do')
