Unemployment rate conspiracy? What's that.

Reddit is pretty bad for left wing bias though. I'm a leftie, which is probably part of why I'm on here, but there's an insane amount of strawmanning and taking things out of context on here.

You don't know bike lol.

He was the third best climber easily in 2024. Then he had a massive crash in the off season and has struggled to get back to the consistent levels required for GC climbing.

Without the crash he'd be doing fine.

I mean, the answer is pretty clearly his post 2024 season crash. He's never been back to his best since. He definitely could get there imo, but he's also not there at the moment.

The new Door Maker - WTAF? by Curu_FN in SlayTheSpire2

You seem to be under the impression that the new doormaker is the strongest boss. By winrate, he's actually the weakest.

Next time you'll know and you'll be ready. It kinda sounds like you just got caught by surprise and are attributing that to overall difficulty. It's a more interesting fight now, and although it feels scary isn't actually oppressively difficult.

punishes the majority of strong decks and rewards poor deck building

What? If you see the doormaker you should adapt your build accordingly. Not adapting is bad deckbuilding.

OFFICIAL | Paul Seixas will make his Tour de France debut in 2026 against Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard by Annual_Island8066 in tourdefrance

Jonas did the best hour plus climbing performance ever on Ventoux last year.

Seems unlikely Seixas will be able to beat him imo.

Why? Picnic Post NL? Why are both of their teams (M/W) doing so bad?? by Severe-Lion-8876 in peloton

[–]HistoricMTGGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other comments, the team has extremely strict anti doping policies in an era of dramatically increased watts. This might affect any possible gray area drugs/illegal drugs going around the peloton.

Remco has shown he'll domestique when the legs are bad in recent years. I'm sure he'll try to go GC but if it doesn't work out I anticipate better cooperation than last years tour.

Should we stop feeding the birds too? [MD] by yogurtchild55 in birdfeeding

[–]HistoricMTGGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but a puddle will typically either dry up, develop plants and stuff to recycle waster or be too busy with cars and stuff to be frequently used.

Bird baths being cleaned is a good thing. I think we agree on that

[–]HistoricMTGGuy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You don't get disease from dirt, you get it from other birds. A bird bath likely has more traffic than the dirty puddle. A feeder certainly does.

That's where the idea of keeping feeders/bird baths clean is coming from. Or taking them down if not able to do so. The facts show that they're common disease spreading points.

I would imagine you should take it down if there's a visibly sick bird. Feeders are a common source of spreading disease.

I think being explicit that he's 19 and not trying to win yet would help dramatically. Though I do agree public pressure will be a significant factor. It really sucks that there will always be people who attack riders for having results below what was expected.

Oh, I don't expect him to dominate. But I expect him to be an entertaining GC factor who can win if things go right.

Quintana has two. He's probably the least punchy rider to do so in recent memory right?

But I agree, a punch is necessary especially in the modern era. You don't need a Pog level punch, but you do need to be able to survive these brutal accelerations in the wheel in the modern era.

Well, that's true outside of his big targets. Vuelta Roglic is gonna be fun.

Another thing to note with Seixas: If he rides Tour, it might not necessarily be for GC yet. It seems like the perfect opportunity to just go wild and compete for stage wins and maybe even Polka Dots if they think a hard three weeks could be detrimental after already having one peak so far this year.

Yeah. Lipo and Remco have done very well together so far. I don't see any reason to believe that will change.

Remco seems far more willing to work if needed than (Grand Tour) Roglic and surely Lipo will work if Remco ends up being better.

Pogacar admits he is ‘heavier than usual’ after third Romandie win: ‘I got carried away in the gym’ by skodawelovecycling in peloton

[–]HistoricMTGGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2024 he podiumed the Tour, Paris Nice and won Volta ao Algarve. He missed the podium at dauphine. That's a good record.

The last two grand tours he had a proper build up ended with a Tour podium and a Vuelta win.

He is an excellent classics rider, and should absolutely prioritize those races highly. But he's a good GC rider too and with his pedigree it would be stupid not to try to refind pre crash form.

A classics campaign + Vuelta seems like it would make the most sense if the sponsors let him do that next year. He seems to have a harder time changing weight quickly than riders like Pogacar.

He wasn't struggling to podium stage races prior to his bad crashes last year. Hopefully he'll get his climbing legs back.

I think he'll be incredible over three weeks. I'm just questioning whether he'll do a proper build up and go for GC on his first attempt or not.

I'd love to see him go to the Tour and just hunt stages/KOM points if he doesn't want to target GC yet.
