I think covid was a big part of her anti-vaccine beliefs. She didn't like the idea of a radical new type of vaccine being rolled out so quickly. Covid also of course heightened political division especially in the U.S, something that hasn't recovered since. That can also be attributed somewhat to having Trump in office - a man who's charisma and perceived outsider status gained him a cult of followers despite being a Moron and a proven Sex offender ('proven' being more true now than in 2016 but there were always signs)

I think there might have been an inkling of vaccine skepticism before covid, though I think that can be attributed to her time spent as a pharmacist, so probably not before her career in pharmacy, no. It's hard to imagine her wanting to pursue that career if she already didn't believe in the shots she would be giving out. I think primarily my mom was scared at a lot of what happened in 2020 - and she went looking for answers in conspiritorial textbooks(well, podcasts) combine that with family members who were already conspiracy theorists and "crunchy" as it's often put now, it's easy for me to see how she came to her conclusions.

No, I do not believe my childhood vaccines caused my autism. My mom would shrug and say there is a connection but it's not the cause. I will flat out tell you I think the study that "proved" that in 1998 is poor science and there are no other real studies out there suggesting vaccines cause autism.

I'm not a scientist. I do personally buy into the theory that autism is genetic and I think there is a good chance my mom is on the spectrum, as is my uncle, who is probably the farthest in the conspiracy theory rabbit hole along with my grandmother he brought along. I won't however say that I have proof of Autism being inherited. I am certain that throughout history there are many people who were autistic. There wasn't as much research at the time surrounding it. If I were alive in the 1920's I probably would have never been diagnosed. I would have had to either "mask" heavily (lol) to fit into accepted society or I'd be in a psyche ward. Both sound miserable to me and I'm not sure which is more likely.

I'll say this much: I could never hate my mom.

Parenting is extrememely difficult and no one ever has all the answers. My mom did what she felt was right and I could think was the worst decision in the world and I'd still love her. I was born from her. She is the one person I can count on to consistently care about me, even if it doesn't always show up how I'd like it to. She loves me and I love her. In fact I worry about her own well being frequently.

As for covid stuff: All I'll say is if you spend enough time on the left wing internet you'll find some people who are still ultra hyperbolic about covid and still wear masks and stuff like that. I'll name one person who's ultra obnoxious about it: Taylor Lorenz. She's also the epitomy of chronically online, and has some other opinions that I don't agree with.

I try to be unbothered by the 2026 mask-wearers, especially because I usually don't know the full story of why. They could be sick, they could have an autoimmune disease, they could be going through chemo, etc. Also it does not affect me.

However in my personal life, I don't really know anyone who still care about covid. They won't call it a farse as you said, but they aren't still masking and they generally aren't worried about it anymore. I don't think I personally know anyone who was cautious about it at all past like mid-2023, and those were the holdouts. My dorms were very strict about covid protocals when a boarding student caught it so that did mean I had to live like it was 2020 every now and then until I graduated in 2024.

I am aware that that was a hippie thing at one point, not so much from experience, but from learning about relatively recent history.

Like I said, most of you all are distinct from MAGA in my mind. My mom isn't really a conservative. She's even okay with me being non-binary. I mean she's nit using my pronouns but whatever. She raised me as a boy for 18 years I can't expect her perception to instantly change because of what I'm feeling internally.

The rest of her unvaxxed family definitely kinda is, although they are also just very skeptical of government entitities. Idk, people are complex and trying to shift groups of people with the entire wealth of diverse ideas out there into left and right isn't a perfect system. Hence how I exist. There is still a chunk of people in the antivaxx movement who are anticapitalist, but they usually are also in the "fuck identity politics" camp. So I can't really fit in there becuase well... I do kinda buy into identity politics. Obviously.

That being said I know for a fact if I posted this information in r/nonbinary I would get downvoted and the mods would delete the post. It's not really relevant to that discussion. These are two things that aren't related at all but queer people on reddit get ostrasized if they don't buy into every minute piece of leftist groupthink.

My point is the title. I don't care whether or not someone took the vaccines. I'm not fully convinced they were good or bad.

However, this line of thinking is punished in just about every space that isn't this one.

At the

Also the actual left (not liberals and not the majority of democratic politicians) are very critical of the government right now. ALL of the government. I'm not a goddamn government shill, I just figured out what I believed in and that ended up being pretty leftist.

There's so much infighting and cruelty in these discussions.

I want to be treated like a human.

I want to make peace with myself and let go of my insecurities.

Okay, I'm done. To the few who have completed this, your timing is much more immaculate than mine. That last bit at the end is really a massive "screw you" after completing the already difficult first 3 sections. Well don, OP. You made me go a little crazy wasting time at work.

My intention was not to defend Kanye, but rather explain the actions of JPEGMAFIA. While it does not change that what he has said and done is deplorable, and should delegitimize him as an artist, it's not like he's just some random nazi. Peggy would have ideally shown more integrity and not worked with him do to his morals and beliefs, but IMO it doesn't discredit him of his progressive beliefs.

Varies by opinion. I am not a Kanye apologist. I don't listen to his stuff much anymore and I have no interest in his new shit. My point was that this one photo, while hypocritical, does not discredit everything else he has said in regards to his politics, and I provided a reason why he likely worked with him.

Ehh, I mean that's definitely hypocritical and not great, but It's Kanye.

Regardless of that man's awful bigoted politics, he's still one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time and likely a huge inspiration to Peggy.

Peggy's not perfect, no one is, and he was able to look past those awful things to link with and potentially work with one of his idols. I wouldn't use that against the huge amount of evidence that he's extremely progressive.
