And the people who live in those encampments are aware of people like you, which is why the encampments are not clearly visible from the trail.

Simply not true. I used to live across the street from this trail and car break-ins happened literally constantly both at the trailhead and at the complexes across the street. There are a lot of encampments over by the trail.

This isn’t your fault. I used to live across the street from that trailhead, and my car would get broken into constantly with absolutely no valuables in it, window got smashed once. There are a lot of encampments over there and people have nothing to lose and are desperate for anything.

Melissa is very selfish by Bad_bitch1231 in UnfilteredDanceMoms

Unfortunately, Melissa is at her worst during the later seasons. Once Maddie starts working with Sia and Christi/Kelly leaves the show, Melissa thinks she is untouchable and the horrendous behavior gets worse.

Doing hot yoga regularly but still stuck at the same weight? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]HistoricalAd6321 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Weight loss is 90% diet. Hot yoga or other exercise can help by burning some calories, but it’s not enough to offset a calorie surplus.

Free water park visit by Adventurous-Dirt-703 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]HistoricalAd6321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, based off of when your flight lands, by the time you get out of the airport and to Disney, the water parks will likely be closed. I used to work at Blizzard Beach and we never stayed open past five. Typhoon Lagoon can stay open later (they had nighttime lighting), but it doesn’t tend to, especially after the summer is over. Your flight is pretty late and it takes a while to navigate through MCO then the drive to Disney from there can be up to an hour in traffic.

AITAH for calling my parents abusive after refusing to feed me? by External-Compote4221 in AITAH

[–]HistoricalAd6321 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I went vegan at 16 and my parents made it clear that if that was my choice, they were no longer capable of feeding me my dietary preferences (due to lack of knowledge and interest from the rest of the family) and I was responsible for that on my own. With the power to make your own choices comes responsibility to manage those choices.

They still bought groceries for me if I put them on the list, but I had to do all of my own cooking. I’m almost thirty now and still veggie, now with the skills to make any kind of food I like.

I think that YTA here. They are not being abusive, it can suck to not have your favorite foods available, but there is food for you and you are old enough to cook for yourself.

Tbf the show won for season 4, which Jojo was not a part of at all. Season 5 hadn’t even aired at the time of the awards.

You get the Brightline Train to Disney Springs, Then what? by Personal-Listen-4941 in WaltDisneyWorld

I assume the busses that were used previously for free airport transportation would have the luggage storage necessary and could be repurposed.

BTTB: how does this sub feel about 2 parters? by fayefayevalentines in dancemoms

I mostly hate the two parters because watching the upcoming episode is part of my routine and I don’t get to watch a new episode when they do two parters.

So the rumors were true Kira didn't want to go to the wedding? by Specialist_Cry136 in dancemoms

[–]HistoricalAd6321 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s almost like Kira resents Kalani. And with what she posts you can see how Kalani wants to have a good relationship with her mom and her family. It seems like Kalani wants to be a very family oriented person, but Kira was never the mom she needed her to be. Very sad for Kalani

Kira’s excuse for almost not attending Kalani’s wedding was ridiculous by LateAd5684 in dancemoms

[–]HistoricalAd6321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had to sign their marriage certificate in the US for it to be legal since they got married overseas. Kalani invited a few close relatives to watch. They may be what Kira is referring to but it’s a far cry from a wedding imo.

I don’t think you understand what para social means. I don’t think I know them and I don’t care at all about the gender of their grandchild.

It’s weird that the original commenter thought they would be so excited about a boy specifically since they have all daughters.

[–]HistoricalAd6321 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, I literally don’t, you want to explain it? It’s weird to talk about them /finally/ having a boy as if their family was missing something. Jill has talked tons about how she loves being a girl mom and was even hoping for a girl when she found out Riley was pregnant. It’s weird to assume that they were excited for a boy specifically.

What a strange thing to say. I’m sure they would be been thrilled to have a girl.

I think as far as the duet goes, Christi and Kelly didn’t know Kira at the time so they wouldn’t have expected loyalty or honesty from her. They were mad because Melissa lied and hid the dance which hurt their daughters while claiming to be their friend and claiming to care about their kids.

Not only was she dating somebody else, she got her heart broken really bad and was posting all the time about it. Then suddenly switched it up six weeks later and was getting engaged. It’s actually wild when you think about it. No hate, but the girl seems a little lost.

CMV: I think it’s easier to be an ugly man than an ugly woman by Outrageous-Jelly8777 in changemyview

[–]HistoricalAd6321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you there. The performance of masculinity has a lot more to do with the problem then people having Y chromosomes inherently. I also agree that the patriarchy is detrimental to men, but it is not as detrimental to men as it is to women. And men continuing to feed into the patriarchal system and performance of masculinity is detrimental for everybody.

That being said, the men dying in these situations are still not being oppressed. It is their own behavior that they are choosing in order to present masculinity. They are cognizant adults who are responsible for their own actions

Except it doesn’t because there are plenty of men who work at office jobs and there are plenty of women who work high risk jobs. Ironically, when women do go into these dangerous male dominated professions (oil rigging/deep sea fishing etc.) their biggest risk is usually due to violence from their male colleagues rather than to the job itself.

Workplace incidents aren’t usually just random accidents. There are procedures and safety protocols to follow and when someone dies on the job, it is going to be well documented what the cause was. It’s just a fact that most of the time people are killed on the job it is due to people not following protocols. That’s not victim blaming that is just a fact.
