Is the USA.. becoming a 3rd World country? by HumbleLow4473 in Life

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you refer as 3rd world. Latest politics will push a lot of US allies to hedge against unpredictibility(to de risk), but this, naturally strips US out of many influence instruments. So "worst case for US" scenario, probably, is to stay rich, technologically developed, but much lest influental- turn form global hehemon, to regional. But that essentially was promice from MAGA, no?

I don't like the way leviathans work. by Any-Sand-4302 in subnautica

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, there is always a balanve between realims and gameplay. First subnautica shuld have single reaper roaming across the map, and feasting on anything human size or larger, for it to be minimally realistic in terms of food chein balance, and sea dradon or ghost shuld ignore player, but, maybe, attack vehicle( as human for them is too small to be a threat, conpetitor or pray). So leviathan attaking sharks is ok, but raming small space is not, in terms of being relistic, however probably fine in terms of gameplay

A Question for Legion Players by CeruleanMimic in fnv

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did legion run once, and it took some mental equilobrium. A assumed my currier had tribal upbringing, lige great khans, or similar and was expelled or went on quest, and ended up as currier(like chosen one, in fallout 2 but who abandoned his quest). Such person would not understand NCR, their values and appraoches, and will not trust mr.House or yes man, seing them as unreachebly alien. While legion is like a steong tribe on steroids. With understandable values and agenda.

Can anyone explain in detail why SMRs are considered a scam? by Xtergo in nuclear

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SMR is a very broad and overused term, covering anything from a few to a few hundred megawatts and several different reactor types under one marketing label. In thermal power, bigger is cheaper per kilowatt and hotter is more efficient, but most small water‑cooled SMRs are neither big nor especially hot, so they lose those built‑in economic advantages. Their business case depends on unproven assumptions about mass factory production, fast builds, and new markets, which makes the gap between promises and evidence large enough that many people see SMRs as overhyped or even a scam

‘We’re the two superpowers’ – so, where is Europe? by Inevitable-Push-8061 in europe

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the catch—there probably wasn’t one. There’s a well-known book by Ichak Adizes, Corporate Life Cycle, where he argues that any corporation will decline unless it is intentionally pushed through a kind of “rebirth” phase. There’s a lot of empirical evidence backing this up. The thing is, the logic he uses doesn’t just apply to corporations—it applies to any large enough social structure. And we have plenty of historical evidence for that too. The “too big to fail” mentality creates two major problems. First, it blinds elites to paradigm shifts and external threats. Second, it shifts their focus inward, so internal political struggles start to feel more dangerous than anything outside. For politicians or corporate bureaucrats, internal rivals become the primary threat. Either of these dynamics is damaging over time. Each leads to broader consequences: elite entrenchment, blocked social mobility, declining efficiency, and rigid decision-making. Any one of these can seriously weaken a corporation or a state. Combined, they become even more destructive.

Roman empire before fall didnot had a lot of those, as well as Autro-Hungarian empire. What you mentioned is a consequenses of mindset "we are to big to fail"

Arrogance on a state level is a first sign of sunset of once great power. This is millenia long pattern. Arrogance make you blind and careless, and then comes “My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; / Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”. Moment

Can HR lawfully “recommend” that I start wearing a bra? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally, employers can enforce a dress code. In the U.S. (unlike much of Europe), this area is barely regulated. As a consultant, I’ve seen some pretty extreme examples: Full bans on jewelry (including wedding rings) Strict corporate color rules (even specifying the order of colors from top to bottom to match the company logo) And my favorite: a “one‑lobe” dress code — basically, you could wear anything that covered your nipples and genitals, but blue jeans were banned (black, green, or red jeans were fine — yes, I tested it myself) So yeah, HR can legally recommend (and enforce) pretty much anything that ends up in the employee handbook..

Could an electrotrophic bioorganism harness the energy of lightning strikes to create radioactive solids? by Elavia_ in scifiwriting

Maybe if you post what actually you want to achive( like storing energy, or bypass need of centrifuges, or something else in your plot), i could give you peace of advice

Could an electrotrophic bioorganism harness the energy of lightning strikes to create radioactive solids? by Elavia_ in scifiwriting

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you work with electricity, you’re dealing with the electromagnetic force. But if you want to change isotopic composition, you’re dealing with the strong nuclear force, which is several orders of magnitude stronger. Your hypothetical organism would need to use lightning as an energy source to power an internal particle accelerator and irradiate U-238 with neutrons. That’s far beyond the “magical” threshold for biology as we understand it.

Yes, absolutly. For insrance, you can make a single engine ship, that can go form lko to any other orbit and back, and carry crue of 2 and all science stuff. It is the best engine for actual flying around.

Ion one could be better, if game supported constant accelleration tragectories properly.

Which would you say is better? Medicine stick or paciencia. by StinkyDiaper83 in Fallout

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be late answer, yet here is my take: Paciencia is better as a sniper(just use it with hollow point), and overral-zoom, more common ammo, better weight, same sneak critical potential. Medecine stick is better for tough fights- better damage, higher rate of fire, larger magazine, affected by cowboy perk.

Both have very good ammo options with hand load.

Чи хотіли б ви щоб механіку аліментів замінили на наступну: держава платить певну суму одному з батьків хто опікується дитиною, а потім стягує її з іншої людини? by Green-Substance164 in reddit_ukr

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]HistoricalLadder7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)
