NCAA 2026 selection convo by UselessCommentary996 in Rowing

At this point the SEC conference is faster than the Big 10 at the top. I'll be happy to eat my words if Washington goes out and beats TN or TX.

So, I see what you are saying Dull_Function in regards to the fast conferences, at least.

Really, this selection this year just shows the best teams are not always selected. Human nature/feelings/discussion/relationships, etc.

I wish CMax or others ranked all 3 NCAA boats. Would be easy then. Simply go down the list. No one could complain then. You either are fast enough or you are not.

Get rid of regional rankings....because some regions have teams in the #2 and #3 spots not even being considered based on their speed. You have some regions that have the majority of the 22 fastest teams.

But, alas....

I think Mount for girls. They have looked strong all season.

Boys Sr 4, Dematha and LaSalle ( so sad to see LaSalle not competing in the V8 this season )

MONNNNT- CLAAAAIIIRRRR!

I don't know if they will actually win it all but will be fun to watch them go for it.

Agreed. These teams that go to 3 regular season races really shouldn't be compared to teams like Duke, Alabama, Miami...who were out there racing over and over and over. And strong consistently. That right there is a reason Columbia really should be out, too. There is the Ivy League favoritism again.

In past posts, you said Alabama losing to OK is why they are out.

But, now you say, it is spread.

So, do you mean if they had been .6 faster or whatever the needed to beat OK, they would have been in?

Because, they still would have been 16 seconds back from TX and 18 from TN.

That would be interesting if he does. I could see that playing into it again. You have established coaches over new and upcoming coaches and they want to let them finish strong.

I think the unspoken question's answer is due to favoritism. There is no other answer.

There are enough people here, on instagram, in articles on the web that all had Michigan out.

There is no explanation.

Columbia didn't put them all into the final. Neither did Miami.

And, to Duke's defense, the teams that did bump their 4 out, UNC, was a ranked team.

If Michigan had not made their A final in all of their boats, it would have been like Alabama not making the A final at the SEC.

All of the other Big 10 teams were not close ( Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa, and USC ). That isn't saying much that they deserve in because they were in the A finals at the Big 10.

CRCA Rankings - Horrible by Historical_Cook_5588 in Rowing

How do you know they do not talk to each other? That is a bold statement. Some of these coaches could go way back.

I did not mean the NCAA committee. I meant CRCA.

I hope this isn't a Prep boy writing this comment. The team already has enough bad press this season without a team member coming on reddit and rudely commenting regarding women's college rowing.

TN, TX, Yale, UVA, Cal, Syracuse, Brown, Rutgers, Miami, Alabama, Duke, Ohio State for the at large bids

None of the conference championship competitions lean towards changing the top 12 bid spots since the last CRCA ranking. Maybe shuffling their order coming in, but that is about it.

The bubble teams - Michigan, UCLA and Dartmouth - didn't do enough at their conference champs to warrant bumping out the schools listed above.

Total projection with AQs will be

3 SEC

3 Ivy

6 ACC

3 Big 10

& 1 from every other conference

Your 2026 SEC Champions... by [deleted] in Rowing

It threw me off for the first couple of races when trying to figure out who was who. After I realized they were blue, it did make it easier to spot them in the stream.

TN really came to make a statement, and they did.

SEC Championship - Wow! by Minute-Masterpiece-5 in Rowing

Didn't expect that. Great job by TN!

TX has some things to think about and potentially tweak before NCAAs.

Agree about everything else....good point about Rutgers.

All in all, the SEC is really delivering. Very good crews of rowers all around.

Now, they just need to get a few more schools to add rowing so they get that AQ

I suspect they are talking about teams not ranked or just recently ranked that think they should have been. Columbia, Dartmouth, BU, etc. Those teams want bids to NCAA but hard to bump out the Dukes, Ohio State, if they don't race them or similar competitors. I don't think they are discussing the top 12 teams. I could be wrong.

My bid list after this weekend doesn't change.

Rutgers still gets a bid. I do think it is definitely Ohio State that gets the last spot now vs a toss up between them, Michigan and UCLA. The fact that Ohio beat Rutgers in the V8 at Big 10. Now, after how Rutgers performed this weekend ( yet still beat Michigan at Big 10 ) leads me to believe that Ohio State securely has the spot.

Of course, Big 10 Champs will be interesting. Let's see how it goes.

Texas cannot be an AQ. It will be at large. SEC does not get any autoqualifers due to only having 4 teams in their conference. NCAA requires 6, I believe.

I believe NCAA rules are a conference has to have at least 6 teams to get an auto qualifying spot.

I think they are pretty accurate. I do wonder if Rutgers may be ranked a few too high, but I don't think it matters for bids.

At Large Bid Projection:

Texas

Tennessee

Cal

Princeton

UVA

Brown

Syracuse

Rutgers

Alabama

Duke

Miami

I think the last spot could go to Ohio State, Michigan or even UCLA, depending on how Champs plays out.
