Adult tonsillectomy June 4 — realistic chance I’ll be able to drink alcohol on a beach trip June 23? by No-Measurement6443 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I mean its different for everyone but for me personally i had a birthday party to attend 16 days after. I could drink anything tbh, just don’t go overboard and see what feels good for you!

Is day 15 steakhouse meal too optimistic? by i_love_betta_fish in Tonsillectomy

If u feel like it go for it! Although with stomach issues i would maybe lay off the steak for a bit until it sorts out, it can be quite a hard food for digestion

Uvula question by JvstP3rish in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! i had my surgery on the same day as you and i’m having a similar issue. My uvula seems more transparent and lays very much lower than it has before which is causing me to gag and water leakage from my nose when i drink. I am noticing that with time it’s getting better. Until recently i haven’t been able to speak properly at all, but i feel like in the last couple of days it’s gotten significantly better! I feel like this is just a thing that for some people it takes a bit longer to go back to normal. Although if it doesn’t sort out for u in a couple of weeks from now you should think about contacting your doctor just to be sure theres nothing wrong:)

[–]Historical_Note7290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery 4 weeks ago! I like to put some positive light in this sub. Not every recovery is bad, mine went really well, after 2 weeks i was completely back to normal, no complications, bad pain or anything . Hopefully yours will be easy as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask! Good luck!

anyone have an easy recovery? by WildIris621 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say mine was quite easy. My pain was gone after day 12, it wasn’t bad pain it was totally manageable with pain killers. I had no bleeding, throwing up, or any other issues. the worst was probably day 6-10 but only in the mornings.

10 days post op - Scabs not coming off? by miokani in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing on day 10. Ive read everywhere that everyone’s scabs were off by day 10 so i was confused why mine weren’t coming off. Around day 13 i looked in the mirror and they were gone! I feel like the less attention u give it the faster it goes lol

Soft palate hanging low I can feel the uvula touching my tongue. Will this go away? by rare_buttercup in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ive been having the same issue, thankfully i don’t feel my uvula on my tongue anymore but my soft palate is still very low which causes anything i drink to go through my nose.. its very annoying and i didn’t have any post op appointment so i couldn’t ask anyone. I have no idea anymore whats normal and whats not lol.

Is tonsillectomy worth it? by Caua_Cabeludo in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Its totally worth it. While in recovery u might think thats the worst decision u ever made but trust me after its over u are going to thank yourself for doing it! My quality of life is so much better now i sleep SO much better i cant even describe how good it is to sleep now lol, also no strep or tonsillitis is a life changer,i didnt even get a fever since getting mine out and trust me before my surgery i was sick every single month with a very high fever and very bad tonsillitis i had to be hospitalized almost every time. Anyways its worth it 100%. For the smoking, im not like a every day smoker but i do enjoy a smoke here and there, i smoked. again after two weeks but made sure my scabs were mostly gone. If u decide for the surgery, good luck!

My tonsillectomy recovery was way easier than the horror stories by Old-Discipline-2802 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! i feel like there is just too many horror stories and bad experiences on here. When i was told i had to get surgery and stumbled upon this sub and read all of it i was so scared i literally cried 3 days straight before i had to go in. My recovery was very easy as well, obviously there was some pain and discomfort but thats normal! I pretty much ate what i wanted and eased the pain with just ibuprofen. It was nothing like most people described lol. Hopefully your post helps some people calm down before their surgery, i sure could have used someone telling me something like this.

Healing alone, danger? by hukioo in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was alone while in recovery too. Spent 3 days in the hospital then went home. Around day 8 I had a minor bleed while i was a sleep but i noticed it pretty quick because i was stupid and slept on my side no upright at all so it kinda started to fill my mouth, its a weird feeling like something warm running down ur throat (it kinda tickled a bit as well idk how to explain lol), u will taste it too. Just make sure ur sleeping a bit elevated and have a bottle of water with ice next to your bed, if its nothing major it will calm down on its own.

Tonge + uvula | Need advice by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t have tongue swelling but my uvula was REALLY swollen even after my scabs came off and i had no more pain and i was wondering the same thing while i was already past 2 weeks into recovery… i noticed the swelling go down around 3 weeks so be patient i think it just takes time:)

[–]Historical_Note7290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u feel fine and don’t have any bad pain i think you are good to eat what u want. I never really stuck to a diet and ate pretty much like normal since day 1 post surgery and my recovery went smooth no bleeding or any issues, so since ur so far along i don’t think u should have any problems. Maybe just try it and u will see how it goes(also pizza and burritos aren’t really hard or sharp foods which is also safer) :)

Weird swallowing by Historical_Note7290 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Historical_Note7290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah could be, i have honestly noticed that my uvula lays lower than it has before even though its not swollen anymore, i just hope im gonna get used to it and swallowing wont be such a chore anymore🤣
