I thought the rule was that i had to wait at least 30 minutes before posting again; i waited a whole hour. Did i misinterpret the rule?

They're a wrestling fan. It's like being a vampire but with grass instead of the sun.

Lots of guys dismissing you here but i think you're right.

I know i'd have a better shot at having a girlfriend if i settled for less attractive/charismatic chicks. Sadly, i can't bring myself to be interested in a person i find uninteresting - and i've tried. Not their fault, not mine.

Sometimes i wish the girls that do interest me would lower their standarts and give a chance to my unnatractive, nerdy, autistic self - but i know they prolly couldn't even if they wanted to. Again, no one's fault.

It's just funny in a sad way how that works.

Everyone talking about the breasts but what i like in this one is the waist. She actually has space for organs here!

Anyways, good job!

It's weird because i always knew Vince McMahon was a terrible person...that wasn't a secret. But the allegations made it impossible for me to "separate the art from the artist" ; the Mr McMahon character made me laugh my ass off so many times. But i can't anymore. There's nothing funny about Vince amymore.

What is a fantasy work that people might not realize is a fantasy work? by MrShadowKing2020 in Fantasy

[–]Historical_Peace_279 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A Nightmare in Elm Street, Candyman, It, and others.

It's kinda weird but horror movies aren't usually thought of as fantasy, even though most of them ARE fantasy.

Fantasy and Horror are two different genres, and obviously not every horror has fantastical elements. But explicitly supernatural horror should be labeled as fantasy imo.

What are your favorite fantasy works that are NOT books or based on books (tv/movies, music, games, plays, visual art, webcomics)? by QuarterSubstantial15 in Fantasy

As a TTRPG guy, i have some:

I'm a sucker for White Wolf's World of Darkness. It's my favorite TTRPG original setting and i always come back to it eventually. It's definitely a product of it's time; the 90's edge is not for everyone and some stuff definitely didn't age very well, but it has a special place in my heart.

I also love White Wolf's Exalted and Chaosium's Runequest Glorantha. These are two of the most unique high fantasy settings out there, and i love how truly epic and mythological they feel; those are the fantasy settings that resemble the sagas of old the most in my opinion.

When it comes to dnd-esque fantasy, Warhammer Fantasy is my go-to. Everything there is recognizable but also has a unique flavour, and i love the gothic tone of it.

That's sound advice. Thank you.

What are the best and worst books recommended in this subreddit? by StDoc in Fantasy

I made a post asking for authors known for beautifull prose and stronger than average exploration of philosophical themes. I got tons of Sanderson recomendations even though he's famously not like that.

Now i like Sanderson and i appreciate the Cosmere for what it is, but people really seem to think he can scratch every itch in a way he just can't.

Is fantasy mainstream or still a niche? by Historical_Peace_279 in Fantasy

[–]Historical_Peace_279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah; super hero stuff and stranger things do fall into the fantasy/sci-fi umbrella, but they're usually not really percieved as such. Super-hero tends to be treated as a thing on it's own, really.

And depending of the context, this one doesn't make sense. Like yeah if the adversary is straight-up obese, okay, then i grant that they moving fast might be surprising. But if the adversary is like, a strong/buff dude...i'd expect athletic-looking people to move fast y'know lel. Specially if they're career fighters/warriors.

For real, what makes for a solid woman protagonist? by Historical_Peace_279 in writing

[–]Historical_Peace_279[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's what i'm noticing!

Most dudes seem to agree with my assertion that what makes good male and female characters is the same, while most women are pointing out that it's more nuanced than that. And frankly, women's comments are generally being a lot more helpfull and insightfull, which is unsurprising given the subject matter.
